The TLC channel should change its abbreviation from the "The Learning Channel" to "The Lugubrious Channel" because everything they show is so damn depressing. These are just a few shows they had on recently:
The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off - TLC presents the story of Jonny Kennedy, who was born with dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa - a terrible genetic condition that caused his skin literally to fall off
The Girl Who Turned to Stone - Luciana a seven year old, has Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, or FOP, an exceptionally rare genetic condition in which muscles in the body begin to calcify (turn into bone) and leads eventually to complete immobilization.
Born Without a Face - Toddler Juliana Wetmore was born with Treacher Collins syndrome. She has no upper jaw, no cheekbones, no eye sockets, and has the corner of her ear missing.
A Face For Yulce - 'The girl with the melted face' is the story of a young Indonesian girl who embarks on a life changing journey of recovery. After a devastating burn injury Yulce comes to Los Angeles for surgery and treatment to rebuild her body.
The Facemakers - Lydia, Karolina & Michael. Dr. Wolfe, attempts experimental surgery on baby Lydia who was born without a lower jaw. And Dr. Bauer races against time to diagnose Karolina whose rare condition has baffled doctors for years and for whom imminent surgery could do irreversible damage.
