Sunday 5-4

May 05, 2008 02:07

I woke up around 8:42 feeling extremely well rested. I suppose thats what happens when you get around 13 hours of sleep.
I actually had time to take a leisurely shower and wander down to the store a bit early.

Magic sealed event (for the release of Shadowmoor) was supposed to be at 1pm.  We were expecting between 12 and 18 people. Low and behold by 1:30 we had...3. That is including me.
In the end we did end up with a 6 person event, although that is including Tam, Michael and myself.  I have no idea what happened to all the drafters who showed interest and to Greg and the people he told. I'll have to bug him about it at work tomorrow.

The tournament was fun. I came very close to winning 2-1 in my last match against Tam.  I made a dumb mistake near the end  of the last game that cost me the game.  Coming in second was good, it meant I almost broke even on the tournament (after selling back my cards and packs to the store at 50% MSRP store credit). I need to start playing more Magic again, I really do enjoy it.  This set in particular is fun.  It is funny to think the last time I played magic regularly was back around...well the turn of the century ^_^ (I love the fact that I can use that phrase about my life).  I think I will insist on drafting Thursdays more despite the often even numbers.

After the sealed event ended Michael and Jen insisted on dragging me to see Blade Runner. Jen threatened to hit me for not already being familiar with it. Vikki came along too.
Decent film, I probably should have seen it years ago. Bit weird.

Lisa met us after the show and the five of us trooped down to the Route 9 Diner.  Neither Jimmy nor Alyssa were there, freakin' weird.  The guy who waited on us was pretty awesome anyways.  He seemed surprised at how much we tipped and thanked us a lot (just makes me feel bad for him cause it means his other parties must have tipped poorly).  I do like being the group that tips well ^_^.   The food was just what I needed, it was kind of amazing just how happy I was to be eating a hamburger with bacon and jalapeños. It really just hit the spot just right.   I was tempted to order a "tranny shake" just to test the fellow, but decided I didn't actually want to drink one all that much.

I gotta remember to go get my brakes looked at tomorrow.  They have been squeaking.  =(
