Spring at Tanz Pferde

I rode Monaco last night in the outdoor arena. The sun had just started going down in beautiful red clouds, and it was still warm, but much cooler than it had been earlier. I want to understand the open/close arena thing better. If it's easiest described with hand gestures, I can wait until Thursday ;>

Well, imagine what you'd have to do if you were horseback. Move the horse up to the gate, standing still next to the latch. That's the easy part. Use the latch. Now, push the 8-foot-long gate open and move the horse through it, without injuring yourself or your horse and without allowing the gate to swing shut on the horse. This means holding it open and moving the horse around the open end. If you lose control of the gate, it might close and catch his hind end. Now the gate is open and you're through it ( ... )
