alycewilson: This is KFP's entry for this week's topic, "Heel Turn." I explained the term referred to when a professional wrestler suddenly turns from good to bad. We talked about heroes and villains, and he decided to do something based on one of his favorite good guy/bad guy pairings, from the movie "Cars." You can click on the images to see a larger version.
You can listen to KFP read his comic:
The title page says, "Chick Hicks versus Lightning McQueen," with the words "Chick Hicks" in green on a red background and, below it, the words "Lightning McQueen" in red on a green background. At the bottom is a blue monster truck and an announcer shouting, "OUT!"
Panel 1: Lightning McQueen, who is a red race car, and a blue monster truck are driving on a gray road. An announcer shouts, in a yellow word bubble, "Welcome to the Obstacle Race!" The words underneath say, "One day in Old Tractor Field, there was a big..."
Panel 2: The words underneath say, "... obstacle race. There was a balance beam." A brown wobbly beam is depicted.
Panel 3: The words underneath say, "... some cones, a tin passage with a ramp." This panel shows the cones from above. They look like yellow circles inside of black circles.
Panel 4: The words underneath say, "... and some bumps. 'It looks hard.'" This panel shows the blue walls of the passage and a dark blue ramp, as well as the bumps, which are brown.
Panel 5: The words underneath say, "The Derby car said. It WAS hard. "On your..." A red and blue pinewood derby car is ready to go.
Panel 6: The words underneath say, "... mark, get ready, go!" In a yellow word balloon, the announcer shouts, "GO!" We see the blue monster truck, Lightning McQueen and Chick Hicks starting the race.
[The descriptions for page 2 come directly from KFP. I added the parts about what the words say.]
Panel 7: Chick cheats at the cones by using two wheels (but he was supposed to use all four). The monster truck is eliminated "because he was so big and heavy, so he couldn't make it." An announcer shouts, "OUT!" The words underneath say, "The first obstacle was the cones. The green..."
Panel 8: The words underneath say, "... car cheated! In the skinny area he cheated." In the thin passage, Chick cheats by riding on top of it. The regular white car is eliminated "because he's not a race car, so he doesn't have enough speed to make it."
Panel 9: The words underneath say, "... again! At the bumps, he did it again." At the bumps, Chick cheats by using a jet pack. The derby car is eliminated because "he's made to go downhill and then go on a level path."
Panel 10: The words underneath say, "He got tied with Lightning McQueen." At the balance beam, Chick gets tied with Lightning McQueen, and he is mad!
Panel 11: The eliminated cars are shown lined up. They look very sad. Underneath it says, "But he noticed all the eliminated cars. So..."
Panel 12: The words underneath say, "He changed good and let Lightning win." The end." In the tiebreaker race, Chick let Lightning McQueen win because he felt so bad about cheating.
