... uff... with all my whinging and sleeping today, I forgot that I saw something a little odd on my way to work. Just pulling into the back lane this morning a rather large bird flew up from a yard to light on hydro wire.
Unconsciously my brain went "big bird", and then tried to figure out what it was. Not paying a huge amount of attention at the outset I thought it was a mourning dove. Getting a little closer I thought "that can't be right, the back is sort've dark". I then thought maybe it was a female robin... the breast wasn't bright red... more a warm tan colour and the back wasn't exactly black-black, either.
My brain then made a wandering circle back to the original thought of "big bird". This bird was way too big to be a robin or mourning dove! It took off and flew away but I did notice that it had much more of a hunter-aspect to its whole look.
Was this a hawk or falcon? Is that totally whacked in the middle of the city?
