I heard the sad news this morning that Maurice Sendak has passed away at the age of 81.

Where the Wild Things Are was always a staple of my childhood, and it's probably where I learned all about having a wild rumpus!

Aww man, he was one of my earliest art inspirations. My notebooks used to be filled with my own "Wild things" creations.

It's sort've funny... we always had Where the Wild Things Are around the house growing up, but I never really took it as an inspiration for drawing. It could be that perhaps it scared me a bit, or maybe I just got over-saturated in Star Wars stuff.

As an adult though, I really did come to appreciate the book.
