So, me being the yutzenfutz that I am, like to keep my Linux install all shiny and new. Things were working wonderfully, but like most things that go so well, there has to be a catch somewhere.
At this point the catch seems to be that my art tablet is no longer supported. This is one of the few times I think I've actually had the support of something actually dropped in Linux!
In defense of the folks that wrote the Wacom driver module, my tablet is a little old (but still in fine shape) and has a serial port plug. Apparently when the driver was modernised it was found that the old serial code was so horrendous that it didn't really get upgraded with the rest of the code. And this seems to be mostly because the developers don't own non-USB tablets.
So, this year our "Holiday Card" was coloured via mouse-ish technology. Like colouring with a brick on a string. It's so very nostalgic for me!
I guess in the new year I'll work on saving up for a new USB wacom tablet. Once can only be so many decades behind in gear before you start paying the price.
