Yesterday was pretty successful; the alarm company came over and fixed my non-responsive alarm keypad and also wired in a second smoke detector for the basement (code requirement). I spent an extra hour at work to make up for some of my missed time, BBQ'd chicken for supper and then did a quick grocery shop.
But it seems there must be a balance for everything.
I let the dog out the back door to do her business, but she was more intent at staring at the front sidewalk of the house. With-out my glasses I could only tell there was a lump there; I didn't know if it was garbage, or a bunny, or what. Apparently it was one of my yard lights. Unlike other years, the light was still there, but someone had ripped it out of the ground and taken the supporting rod. The other yardlights seemed fine. Still frustrating.
Normally I set the timer for my coffee maker so that it's fresh and hot first thing in the morning. This morning when I checked it out, the coffee pot was full but the machine was off. My not-awake brain took a second and then out of curiousity touched the carafe. It was luke warm. Ah, yes. I was home yesterday morning, so I didn't use the timer. And when I put the coffee maker on last night I didn't turn it back to timer... so the coffee was probably done about 10 minutes after I went to bed. Not a biggie... I had time and made a new pot.
I got things together, had my breakfast and walked up to Grant and Pembina to catch the bus. And waited. And waited. And waited. I showed up about 5 to 7am, and even after 7:15 there was still no bus. This isn't all that good, considering it is supposed to show up at 7:02.
Apparently the first bus broke down and the second didn't come until 7:20. The bus was jam-packed but I did manage to find room and made it to work. Only 10 minutes late, so I don't know if I'm narrowing the margin between "crumby" and "on track" or not, but we'll see how the rest of the day goes.
