This morning it was confirmed that after 2 years of "whining and wheedling" I will be getting upgraded to Coreldraw X3. I think 7 years in between software upgrades shouldn't make me look too needy!
Then out of curiosity I checked the Corel site and noticed that they are offering free shipping and a $75 VISA "cash card" ($150 if you buy the full version instead of the upgrade) with orders until the end of November. I still have to do some financial checking on my biz-books but it is near the end of the fiscal year so I could probably make use of spending $229 for taxation purposes, and then using the $75 to go toward Christmas shopping.
And though I haven't really had an opportunity to truly play with it yet, I received my
Neuros OSD yesterday from ThinkGeek. I plugged the unit in (the hardest part being getting behind my TV) and plugged in the ethernet cable. Once I let the unit know I was on a DHCP network it grabbed an IP address, downloaded updates to the firmware (it's Linux based, so there was a kernel update, too), it rebooted and I was ready to go.
Currently, colour me very impressed! At the highest setting I can record 1 hour of TV on a 256meg flash card (left over from my old camera), though I do intend to get a portable hard-drive for it at some point.
Oh, and watching streaming YouTube videos on my TV is another amusement (and perhaps great aggravation) for myself and Amanda.
Once I install the IR Blaster that came with the unit I should be able to consolidate remote controls and be rollin'.
My nerd-cup doth runneth over!
