lmao this is an attempt at a mean girls au idek okay omg :(
Junghee snorted, pulling her messy brow hair away from her face. “Kim Gwiboon is a grade A bitch.” She ignored Taeyeon’s questioning gaze, continuing to sketch something in her notebook. With exasperation, Taeyeon turned to Eli.
“Kim Gwiboon.” Eli sighed, shaking his head. “How do I even begin to describe Kim Gwiboon.”
“You don’t need to.” Junghee didn’t bother looking up from the paper, eyebrows furrowed in concentration. “Like I said already, she’s grade A bitch.” Eli pretended not to hear and pointed across the field to the basketball courts.
“Speak of the devil--” Eli swatted at Junghee when she laughed. “She’s... If this school were a pride of lions, but like, opposite, so that there’s one female and several males to be mated with and the other female lions are, you know, ignored or whatever--”
“Eli,” Junghee interrupted, “we get it.”
“Anyway, she’d be the pride leader. She’s always first, always fierce, and always fabulous.” There was a sort of jealousy in Eli’s tone. “She never has to lift a finger to get anything done.” Taeyeon watched Gwiboon blow kisses at some of the guys and they all pretended to swoon and fall all over each other. She grinned and flounced over to two other girls; one had long, sleek black hair and a dazed look on her face, while the other looked like she was trying too hard to match Gwiboon’s lazily flirtatious pose.
“Well, I mean.” Taeyeon crisscrossed her legs, picking at the grass and tearing it to shreds. “She seemed really nice. You saw how she helped me with the guy. And, I dunno, can’t I be friends with you guys and her?” Junghee snorted again, erasing something and brushing the shavings away carelessly.
“You don’t become friends with Gwiboon. She recruits you into her evil cult of scum sucking life ruiners.” With a particularly angry scribble, Junghee finished whatever she was drawing and finally showed it to them.
“What’s this?” Eli raised an eyebrow at her, poking at it uncertainly.
“This,” Junghee began proudly, “is a social map of the school. There’s a hierarchy in this hellhole and if you want to survive, you better memorize it and adapt to it.”
“Whatever happened to being myself?” Taeyeon asked, accepting the notebook and tilting her head. Junghee laughed, sudden and sharp.
“Oh, right. Be yourself, and you get shunned like me and pigeon boy here.” Junghee rolled her eyes at the affronted sound that Eli made. “Do you really want that?” Taeyeon opened her mouth, then snapped it shut when Junghee looked at her. It wasn’t that she was desperate to fit in; she wasn’t that kind of person. But she didn’t want to put on a facade just to be accepted. She told them as much, her shoulders set with determination.
“Wow.” Eli’s eyes were wide. “This girl is deep.”
“You’re cute.” Junghee took the notebook back. “And you probably won’t make it, but good luck with that.” She made to stand, pulling Eli up forcefully. He squawked indignantly but, as always, Junghee paid him no attention. Taeyeon panicked, stumbling as she tried to stand as well.
“Hey, wait--” Taeyeon grabbed at Junghee’s sleeve. “Okay, I get it. What should I do?” She and Eli exchanged nervous glances at the wide, sweet smile unfurling on Junghee’s face.
“You fit this school’s fucked up beauty standard perfectly.” Taeyeon flinched at Junghee’s excited tone. “And Gwiboon thinks you’re easy pickings, right? You told her you were homeschooled. So!” She clapped her hands together, like an ecstatic child on Christmas morning. “You invade their little group and tell us everything Gwiboon says.”
“Er-- why?” Taeyeon asked. “I thought you hated her.”
“Just for fun!” Junghee obviously had something else planned, but Taeyeon knew better than to question her. Eli sighed, patting Taeyeon’s shoulder.
