The first time they meet, Jinchul is in a terrible mood. He thinks he has good reason for it, too; he hasn't had a gig in weeks and he's three months behind on his rent, his fridge is empty and all his friends have moved on to bigger and better things.
He sits on a bench in the park, flipping through the newspaper looking for some kind of job he can do until he gets a new gig when a stranger walks up to him. Jinchul doesn't even notice at first, and only looks up when there's a shadow blocking the sun.
"Can I help you?" Jinchul squints up at the stranger, who just looks back at him with an overly serious expression before bending down and putting something in Jinchul's hand.
"Here. You look like you need it." The stranger offers him a big goofy grin and then wanders off without even looking back. Jinchul stares at him, then looks down at the chain in his hand. The 'smile' pendant attached to it does exactly what it's probably supposed to - it makes him smile.

Jinchul barely even recognizes him the second time they meet; it's at a photoshoot three weeks later and Jinchul is surrounded by girls covered in paint and nothing else. He figures things are looking up.
"Oh hey, it's you." Their second photographer blinks at Jinchul, and Jinchul blinks back - it's only when the guy grins that Jinchul recognizes him. Recognizes and tries not to be embarrassed by the fact that he's wearing the chain around his neck, even in the photoshoot. Actually, he hasn't taken it off since the day he got it.
"Hi," Jinchul says lamely. It's the best he can manage on short notice.
"I'm Younghak," the stranger replies and takes Jinchul's picture, and just like that, they're not strangers anymore.

Younghak is a free spirit. He doesn't have a steady job and he doesn't really have a place of his own;to Jinchul it's a miracle that he even manages to survive.
"I have good friends," Younghak says and shrugs it off whenever Jinchul brings it up. Younghak isn't like Jinchul; he doesn't worry about what will happen tomorrow or where his next meal comes from. Younghak cares about music and art and photography and people.
He lives the kind of life Jinchul wishes he dared to live.

Younghak drags Jinchul out late one night without listening to any of Jinchul's protest. By the time they reach the dark, run-down tunnel Jinchul is almost convinced that Younghak's going to kill him.
Instead, Younghak pulls a camera out of his bag, pushes Jinchul against the concrete wall and tells him to take his clothes off. "You're too beautiful for clothes," Younghak says and winks - with both eyes.
Jinchul stifles a laughter and tugs his shirt over his head, leaning against the wall and following Younghak's instructions.

After their third private photoshoot, Jinchul brings Younghak home. Jinchul turns off the lights before kissing Younghak and Younghak responds by letting the camera's flash go off in Jinchul's face, he claims it was on accident but Jinchul's not so sure. but it doesn't really matter, because Younghak is here and warm and pressing against Jinchul and laughing against his shoulder and all Jinchul wants is to make him stay forever.
The chain feels warm against his skin, even warmer than Younghak's hands sliding across his stomach.

as for the actual fic, i love how jinchul doesn't understand younghak at all but goes with everything and how younghak is a complete goofball up until the end. ;~; this is great

where have all you kanon shippers been all my life omg. i seriously thought i was practically alone in this. :o but i'm very happy to know i'm not! i love writing the two of them, even if this is technically the first time i do it;they're both just so much fun.
