Minho falls in love first.
It's easier that way, the categorization, timelines, neat divisions of you go here and you, you go there. He respects his father, and his brother is everything will never be. Jinki is the leader, Jonghyun is someone who will eat his pudding if he doesn't get to it first, Kibum is everything he is not, and Taemin is still young.
He does not try to explain this. He does not tell about the way he distinguishes between 'love' and 'like', does not tell about the distinction between 'I want to hold hands with you' and 'I would fuck you in a bathroom stall' and 'I wish I were you'. He does not mention the times he'd glanced at the phone in irritation when it'd gone off with yet another new message - he does not mention that he wonders if it'd be the same response (gleefully sweeping up the phone and a quick reply) if it had been from him. He does not say that he thinks he had been in love.
"Oh," is all Kibum says, when Minho relates this to him matter of factly. They are surprisingly lucid for how much they've drank-this only encourages him to pour them each another shot. "I never knew."
Minho lets out a bark of laughter. "I don't think I knew," he says. The glasses clink together. "It's complicated. Was complicated."
Kibum lets the edge of the glass rest against his teeth, lips just touching the rim. His eyes fall shut for the briefest moment before they blink open again slowly, as if he hadn't closed them in the first place.
Minho has already looked away.
"What if," Kibum begins slowly.
"I think we're drunk," Minho says instead.
Kibum downs another shot, and finds himself inclined to agree.
He doesn't know when he falls in love. It's easier that way - because then there's no need to remember when he's fallen out.

I like how they discuss the matter so casually. It just rings so true for MinKey. Please do continue this, anon. The world needs more MinKey.
