Things I learned today, or what my passion is and why. (lj Idol week 5-open topic)

Today I learned that if you are ever in a situation where you need a hammer but all you have on hand is a banana and liquid nitrogen, that after freezing the banana with liquid nitrogen  the banana can be used as a hammer.

At least with a nail with a wide head and soft, unpressure treated wood.

I also learned, that despite the ten minutes my lab coordinator said to use, that a banana left in liquid nitrogen for longer than about three minutes will split down one side, but will still be usable as a hammer if you have a wide enough piece of unbroken banana skin.

In performing this experiment, I found that I love the excitement and curiosity that the students get when you bring out an experiment like that.

I love chemistry, and I don't mean just in passing, I'm in love with Chemistry. I actively try to seek more chemistry classes to take, just so I can spend more time in the lab. This is my passion and what I want to do with my life. It makes me giddy to come up with new theories and experiments (well, new to me anyway) and test them in the really real world. I find I'm doing more and more research for experiments to do for me, demonstrations I can do for my labs, and justification to my lab coordinator on why I should be able to do the experiment.

I think everyone should find their passion and take charge of it...

So fill me in, what's your passion?

While you answer that, I'm going to go find out what happens when 50 mL of ethanol and 50 mL of De-ionized water are mixed.....
