Now I remember why I'm here

Thank goodness for the days that you remind you what you're doing with your life and why!

I had registration again for the second year of college at AADA. Apparently I should be more nosy over the summer when people say they're "working". Came back to find out my friend Amanda is now being used as Eva Longoria's stunt double in Desperate Housewives. Don't think it's permanent yet but still she's getting paid $5000 a day! The most annoying part being that Amanda is a lovely sweet girl. This summer she's done a lot of work on various shows, has all her union cards and been making $$$ of dollars a day on set, sometimes I wish she was more of a bitch just so I could depise her. Though I'll leave that feeling of "ARGH" towards the "Disney Kids" here - aka the brats that run around dressed way too old for their age, acting like they own the place whilst their moms follow discussing where they got manicures the other day. Oh Hollywood.
And several others who I thought were returning, can't because they're working on various films and shows. That'll teach me to not stay in LA for the summer. It is a confidence boost though knowing that we're all already getting work after one year.

But the best part? I get to be a nerd again. Picked up books today from the library and immediately started reading scripts and pulling out all my dialect tapes (a scottish girl doing southern accent should be a hoot).
I bounced around reading my timetable and seeing how often I get the newer classes like sword fighting, special effects makeup and more classical training (which I used to think I'd hate). Also apparently Alfred Molina is our teacher for camera technique. I'd never heard of him before but I IMDB'd him and think I remember him in spiderman and a few other things. Either way, other people seem excited to have him so I'm jumping on the bandwagon.

No idea what I'll do when I graduate in May though. Hopefully be working, of course. But I realised today this might be the last year - at least for a while - that I get to be geeky about going to school and buying new things for it. Makes up for all the months of stress about rent and 'adult' responsibilities. Maybe I don't need to go to Neverland after all. *************************

I turn 21 in less than a month. Never cared much for it before, turned 18 in the UK and was legal to drink but apart from the times where it had been a long day and we just needed to go to the pub, I rarely drank. Was more of a thing for special events because it just got too expensive in London. So originally it didn't bother me being underage when moving to america, but now I find myself looking forward to it. For the pure fact I can go into bars and just relax, listen to some music if nothing else. Plus I don't know about other states and cities but LA loves kicking you out of some places if you're underage after 7/8pm! I've also heard some of Jason Manns/Steve Carlson's work after learning about them through Jensens interviews etc. Haven't heard a lot to be fair but I noticed Jason plays at a tequila bar and I've hardly ever drank tequila so why not throw some education of alcohol in there? So much to learn...

I started working on some ideas these last few days. A couple of them were far too long winded with details and not enough dialogue which ended up with writers block. But I'm enjoying writing another so hopefully I'll have something up within the next week or so. I also have a prompt still to write but that might take more time. After reading everyone else's, there is a lot to live up to! Though, it's a good thing. I've enjoyed every one of your stories if any of you are reading this :-)
