“The Choi family is here, sir.” A guy in a suit whispered to a man standing by the buffet table, a wine glass in hand and talking to a couple of guests wearing designer clothes.
The man excused himself from the people he was talking to and turned to same guy who whispered to him, “Ah, let's go greet them then.” A smile appeared on his face.
The sound of string and other orchestral instruments filled the room and made the people around feel relaxed, their bodies swaying side to side because of the melodious sound and making them smile.
Mr. Kim Youngmin made his way to the entrance of the house and greeted an old friend with a big smile and a hug.
“Youngmin hyung! Long time no see!” A man, maybe younger than Mr. Kim, greeted him with the same smile and hugged back, “You look younger, hyungnim!”
“Ah, flattery will get you nowhere, my boy!” Mr. Kim patted his friend on the back and pulled away, “How have you been, Sungcheol?”
“I’ve been good, hyungnim.” Mr. Choi Sungcheol grinned at the man who he treated like a big brother, he looked to his left and saw that his wife was standing next to him, “Ah, Youngmin hyung. You’ve met my wife before, right? Sojin, this is Kim Youngmin! He was at our wedding.”
The woman, Sojin, bowed and gave a shy smile to the man standing in front of her. “Nice to see you again, Mr. Kim.”
“Ah, Park Sojin! Nice to meet you again too! How many years has it been since your wedding? 10 years, right?” Mr. Kim chuckled and returned a friendly smile to Sojin who nodded in answer to his question. “You guys have been getting along well, right? I don’t want to hear about Sungcheol here not treating you right!”
“Of course I take good care of her, hyung!” Sungcheol grinned and wrapped his arms around his wife’s waist, pulling her body closer to his.
“That’s the spirit!” Youngmin patted Sungcheol’s shoulder. He then noticed a little girl poking her head out from behind Sojin’s dress. The little girl looked up at Mr. Kim with big round eyes.
“Who is this?”
The two adults that stood in front of the little girl turned to look at who Mr. Kim was asking about, the both of them smiled as they saw their daughter hiding shyly behind them. Sungcheol patted his daughter’s head and asked her to come closer, the girl obliged.
“Soori-ah, why are you hiding there?” Sojin chuckled, “Say hello to Mr. Kim, Soori-ah. He’s a very good friend of your father.”
Soori shyly walked in front of Mr. Kim and bowed, making the old man chuckle at her cuteness. “Hello, Kim ahjusshi.”
“So you’re the heir to the Choi family, eh?” Youngmin crouched down to Soori’s level and patted her on the head, “It’s very nice to meet you, Soori.”
Sensing that Mr. Kim was a friendly man and that he wouldn’t hurt her, Soori smiled widely at the old man and gave him a hug.
Youngmin was caught off guard by the hug but he smiled nonetheless and hugged the little 5 year old girl back.
“Appa?”
Youngmin pulled away from the hug and turned to his left and saw his two sons staring at him and Soori, he smiled and motioned for them to come closer.
“Jongin, Jongdae!”
The two boys, both wearing tuxedos, curiously stepped forward and stared at the girl. The taller one smiled widely and did a curtsy, making Mr. and Mrs. Choi chuckle. After he did, he nudged his little brother who was only staring blankly.
“Hi, I’m Kim Jongdae! Nice to meet you! How old are you? I’m 7!” Jongdae’s smile turned to a grin as Soori blinked her eyes in an adorable way.
“I-I’m Soori...”
“She’s 5 years old, Jongdae-ah. The same age as Jongin!” Mr. Kim stood up and patted his youngest son on the head, “Why don’t you three get to know each other while I talk to Soori’s parents?”
Jongdae nodded, he grabbed Soori’s wrist and held it firmly in his small hand. “We’ll protect Soori dongsaeng!” and the three children marched away, much to the adult’s amusement.
“You’re ugly.” Jongin deadpanned as he watched Soori eat some candy that was given to her by Jongdae, “You’re really ugly.”
Soori pouted, “My umma said I’m pretty! I’m pretty like her, I know it!”
“Nu uh! You’re really ugly! You’re ugly just like Jongdae hyung’s teddy bear!” Jongin stuck his tongue out at Soori. “She’s ugly, right Sehunnie?”
“Luhan hyung ith prettier.” The boy with a poker face on answered, he received a glare from Jongin and he just shrugged.
When fourteen year old Luhan passed by the group of kids sitting by the buffet table and sent them all a pretty smile, Sehun’s poker face expression completely changed into a cute and smiley one.
“Luhan hyung and I are gonna get married thomeday.” Sehun declared with lisp and all.
Soori could only stare as Jongin gave Sehun a smack on the head.
