Any questions, just ask!
* The world itself is primarily like Kingdom Hearts; the Halo elements have been imported in rather than the other way around. So we'll be encountering characters from Halo itself and Red Vs. Blue in some of the primary roles, but they'll be fitting into the KH world rather than the world fitting them. Hell. Kingdom Hearts. Crossovers are the whole point, although this is best described as a series fusion/blend rather than a true crossover. Most of the characters are combinations of two or three from across the different series. This isn't somewhere you'll see a 'classic' Chief talking to a 'classic' Sora, say - John actually has a few traits from Sora and Riku (possibly more the latter in some ways...)
* Space travel is largely on the Halo basis, rather than the system from the KH games - faster-than-light Slipspace jumps taking days to weeks to complete, between planets in the same universe and same galaxy. The Pillar of Autumn, John's ship, is closer to the Halo universe's Pelican dropships in size than the mile-long starship it is in the original - still, that's a hundred feet long.
* AIs exist. They're not all computer programs here, though, they can exist in the 'real worlds' - but compare how they're made in the real Haloverse for the details. The usual term used for the likes of Cortana and Guilty Spark, is 'Constructs'.
* The enemies from the Halo world will be present, adapted as necessary. Put it this way, the Heartless here? Not all so cute and glowy eyed. In fact, they often
look a bit more like this, only shadowy. He's aware on a purely intellectual level what the more conventional Heartless are like, but as the only ones he's encountered as yet have been friendly and/or illusionary he's not so concerned.
* On that note? He knows what Nobodies are and he's somewhat sympathetic towards them. But he's still not going to give any leeway to any of them he finds to be causing trouble - he doesn't believe they're innately evil, he believes they can be redeemed, but he treats them the same way he would ANY human who was pulling that kind of crap. Heart or no heart. Doesn't mind *Nobodies*, does have a few issues with *Organization XIII*.
* Yes. MC will happen, though once again, not the traditional way. There are plans... these things are all in the heart, you know?
* Physically, John's taller than average but not to the extent he would be otherwise (Sam's taller than him). He's very sporty, athletic, a lot heavier-built than Sora and even a bit more than Riku. As far as KH game mechanics go, it's possible to put him at "+ attack, - magic" - very much "- magic". His abilities with it are severely limited, and he's never likely to be that good no matter how much he trains. Fire spells manifest as a flurry of small fireballs, Blizzard as a weak blast of icy cold, and Thunder as a harmless flash of light; the only exception to his lack of ability is what he *believes* to be Aero, which he mastered particularly early (though it doesn't work quite the same way as Sora's, giving him more of a
bubble shield focused on his location - he's not aware of other spells that have the same effect).
He tends to use the keyblade in quite an axe-like manner; similarly to Ven, he tends to strike with the toothed side.
* No military training, though he had a few relevant arms lessons when he was younger - he's quite lively, smart, with a spot of an ego and self-centred streak (though not as bad as when he was younger), and a win-at-all-costs mentality. He's very naive, though. Sheltered island kid. He's actually adopted; his first coherent memories are of waking up on the beach on his island when he was approximately six years old, but he's adapted well to the situation. Too well.
* One trait he has got going for him? He's known to be exceptionally lucky. The coin charm he always has on him is virtually straight yoinked from the novels (it's not munny and he's not sure where it came from). Don't ever ask him to call a coin flip, he will get it right or otherwise win it; he claims to hate (and have been forbidden from playing) board games with dice or card games on similar grounds. Anything involving random chance. There's something going on here - he doesn't know what it is, but he's not complaining...
* There are ruins throughout the worlds, from a civilisation that travelled from one to the next with the greatest of ease (read: Forerunner aka the Halo-builders)... they're just legends now, though. RP-wise? Frequently, they just drop John into the Nexus. The plan is for him not to acquire a PINpoint or similar until the 'game canon' is finished; if he is given one, it'll probably end up getting lost. As well as that, if he needs to get to the Nexus, he usually can; if he just wants to, there's no guarantee. (When he's out in the multiverse, the key acts as a guide/compass to his nearest portal home.)
* His travelling companions for his journey - unlike Donald and Goofy, neither looks non-human - are Cortana and Guilty Spark. He usually shortens the latter of his companions' names, or just plain comes up with any number of nicknames. Spark is the one person who typically uses Halo terminology over Kingdom Hearts terminology. Recently, his best friend Kelly's joined the group.
* His usual arsenal:
- Keyblade: Does what it says on the tin. Choice of six keychains so far; its base form is referred to as "The Index". Not in itself his favourite weapon, but he knows it's the best tool for the job.
- Pistol: This looks a bit like something a FFX2 Gunner would use. It takes limited rounds of standardized ammo. Prefers to use this when he has the chance.
- Energy-pistol; a bit like the Covenant variety in effect, giving off glowing energy blasts, but doesn't look too similar. Still pretty damn unconventional looking, though. It doesn't require ammo, but needs recharging in bright light (not necessarily sunlight) every so often.
- Light grenades, maximum 4: These can be roughly compared to Halo's plasma, although they give off a hell of a bright flash as they explode. Stick to any surface.
- Crystal grenades, maximum 4: The offspring of a frag grenade and a needler, send high-speed shards of very sharp crystal off in all directions. Non-sticky, they bounce off hard surfaces, as do their projectiles.
- Miscellaneous healing items and the likes (Potions, Ethers, etcetera). Incidentally, he's had his hands on one Phoenix Down so far, and has used it up on a friend.
