I am well-aware that it is the weekend before exam week. I myself am busy studying for at least all the subjects as well as finishing my mystery lab report. One would really expect me to discuss the troubles and hardships of studying.
But now for something entirely different...
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is popular children's book series, but it is much more than that. It is ABSURDIST FICTION, considering its eccentric characters and improbable storylines. It talks about the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus and Sunndy, and their misadventures concerning the tragic death of their parents, a secret organization, an evil Count Olaf, and every possible unfortunate event that happens in between.
I've started reading again and I'm well into book the seventh, The Hostile Hospital. I also took out the two latest books out of their plastic packaging, expecting to find out the title of the next book. To my surprise, the author chose not to include it, as the back pages were only scraps of paper ripped into shreds. Though the concept of a mystery title already began in the tenth book (it only said The Grim _________. Book the Eleventh was revealed to be The Grim Grotto), it's the first time there's no clue whatsoever what the title really is. Even Harperbooks, the publishers of the series, only refers to it by its ISBN number. It has been reported that Daniel Handler, Lemony Snicket's representative (as believable as dad goes for a walk while Santa visits), will go on The Today Show to reveal the title and its terrible book cover. For now, readers are referring to it simply as The Nameless Novel.
The book will be on sale around OCTOBER 18, 2005. You have been forewarned.
