Film Review : Sin City

This movie for me is quite indescribable. But I'll try my best.

A new film from (one of my favorite directors,) Robert Rodriguez, Sin City is the film translation of the acclaimed graphic novels by Frank Miller (who co-directed with Rodriguez).

It is of three storylines from the graphic novels: Sin City, The Big Fat Kill and That Yellow Bastard.

One is the story of Marv, a tough-as-nails character who turns all Kill-Bill-ish and becomes a roaring rampage of revenge, in order to avenge the death of Goldie. The Second is the story of ex-photographer Dwight, who unknowingly kills a hero cop and must cover it up to retain the already shaky truce. And the last is of Hartigan, a retiring cop incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit.

The story rocks big time. I mean the things are so dramatically laid out and staged. Enough said.

By the poster alone, you can expect stunning cinematography. It's in bold black and white, with creative splashes of red white and even yellow. It mxes old school direction with cutting edge special effects. I especially like it when the scene becomes a living comic strip panel. Enough said.

I have to point out the makeup. The actors playing Yellow Bastard and Marv are completely unrecognizable. Also Jackie Boy looks weird. It really give that extra animated feel. Enough said.

Basically, this is Sin City. It was a cult comic book series. It was destined to be a cult classic. Really a great movie.

Final Say : Hell of a Movie. You'd be a fool to miss it. But the ones being shown in cinemas was overly edited to fit the R13 rating. So for once, try buying the pirated copy of this near your local bazaars. You'll feel bad about it. But this film will soothe that feeling right out.

My Favorite Line from the film : "Old man dies. Young girl lives. Fair trade."
