I didn't get a chance to watch it but the Washington Post's Tom Shales pretty much trashed it in his review Friday. I think he wanted to like it because it was Whedon but he apparently agrees with you -- it's the same old same without enough creativity to make it even Whedon-worthy.

Yeah, that's about how I felt. I had reservations about the premise of the show to begin with but I thought it's Joss, it won't be bad. I shouldn't have fears that the subject matter will be handled badly and it wasn't, it was just meh.
