The shadows in the night cloaked the figure as she moved from rooftop to rooftop. Only those knowing where to look would notice her silhouette against the night sky. The job had been an easy one, with the planning executed perfectly. Gwen smirked as she dropped the backpack to the floor of the rooftop garden. She'd vowed revenge for Elliot double-crossing her, and it had taken her a couple of years, but it had been worth the wait.
The full moon illuminated the bag as she pulled out the small Chinese silk painting she’d stolen from Elliot. To the untrained eye and mind it was just a pretty painting, but once you held it up to the full moon, the map hidden behind the painting was revealed.
Gwen wished she could be there to see the look on Elliot's face when he discovered the painting was missing. She really wished that she could be there when he had to explain to his customer that he didn't have it any longer. Her smirk turned mischievous as she rolled the painting back into its tight sheath and pressed the speed dial on her cell.
"Nick? In the mood for Chinese food tomorrow? My treat." Her laughter echoed on the night wind as she made her way to the fire escape stairs and her next adventure. Life was good when revenge was sweet and profitable.
