Jiyong stared at the flat landscape that extended for miles around him in slight disgust. He turned around to see a low line of primitive wooden huts behind him with a critical eye before letting out a heavy sigh.
“We’re stranded in the middle of nowhere,” he bemoaned.
“Don’t think of it that way, we’re taking a vacation in the middle of nowhere,” Youngbae said smiling, arms burdened with both of their luggage. He came to stand next to the taller man, his face reflective of his obvious joy.
Jiyong took a few seconds to stare at Youngbae before huffing and walking towards the hut. “You’re a freak of nature,” he said half-heartedly.
The older man chuckled before jogging to catch up with Jiyong, “I love you too babe.”
.:|:.
“Cook?”
“Yes, cooking.”
“Cooking?”
Youngbae only nodded his head in affirmation.
“You want me to cook?”
“I’ll help.”
Jiyong could only give his lover a disbelieving look. He moved his eyes from Youngbae’s cheerful face to the seemingly harmless plants in the field next to him and shuddered in disgust at the singer’s words.
“Are you trying to get us all killed? How am I going to live on a vegetarian diet for a week?”
“We could always buy a cow and cook it.”
“….”
“Or we could find a dog…though that’s kind of…”
“You’re such a barbarian!” Jiyong turned away furiously, marching to the welcoming hut that stored all his precious modern commodities safely.
Youngbae sighed, kneeling down to collect the leaves muttering, “What? We’re Korean…”

The green expanse before him tickled his ankles through his jeans with every step he took. Jiyong stared at one patch of land, examining it carefully before focusing on a different patch several feet away from. His frustration grew as his inability to differentiate the two patches became more apparent. With sudden viciousness, he began plucking random plants from the ground without discrimination and brought the mass back to Youngbae, frowning the whole time.
“Here are your plants, so now cook.”
He forced the green mass into Youngbae’s arms before predictably heading back to the hut. He paused, distracted by a fluttering butterfly that passed his face. His eyes followed the small insect, watching it as it continued its way undisturbed by his presence and fluttered on top of a pure pink blossom, resting its legs carefully on the delicate petals.
He took his eyes of the butterfly and began to focus on the whole picture presented to him: a fresh blue sky behind an earthy panorama that was splattered with random bursts of pure colors, undisturbed by tall buildings and completely devoid of grey. He took a deep breath, letting the clean air rush through his lungs and relaxed, finding a small amount of contentedness in the scene.
“Enjoying the view?”
Jiyong jumped at the sound of his lover’s voice against his ear, jolted from his short reprieve. His mouth refused to form proper words to throw at Youngbae’s grinning face for a good minute before he managed to wheeze out an indignant curse at the older man.
“You jerk! Fucking hell I oughta…”
Youngbae only laughed and reached for his hand. “Come on, let’s go eat,” he said quietly, softly tugging Jiyong towards the hut.
Jiyong nodded mindlessly, thoroughly distracted by the new array of color behind the older man, a palette of majestic blues and rich greens brightened by the whitish sun.

The swampy mixture taunted him with its composition of water and dirt and things he didn’t really want to know about. Jiyong pouted defiantly,
“I’m not touching that.”
“There’s supposed to be some really good vegetables around here. And potatoes, you like potatoes, right?” Youngbae called back, already sloshing through the watery substance.
Jiyong stared at him in horrified fascination as the swampy mixture threatened to invade Youngbae’s rubber boots.
“I’m not touching that,” he repeated with more finality and disgust.
The older man turned around and walked towards him. He reached for Jiyong’s arm with a muddy glove.
“It’s not bad. A little nature never killed anyone…” he coaxed.
“I’m very delicate, you know? I don’t…ARGH,” the younger man yelled as he was unceremoniously pulled into the muddy substance.
“There. Now it can’t get any worse.”
Jiyong growled, scooping up some mud and chucked it at the laughing man, “I’ll show you! You little…”
By the time they got back, they were both muddy and laughing.
.:|:.
Jiyong stared at the brilliant explosion of stars in the late night sky. He sat on the porch, connecting stars in innovative constellations. Quietly, his lover seated himself next to him, offering his company silently.
“It’s beautiful.”
“Yeah.”
They sat in silence for a few more moments, before Jiyong broke it.
“I might actually miss this.”
Youngbae laughed, “You had a good time, didn’t you?” He watched the younger man as Jiyong reflected on the week’s events, reminiscing.
Finally, Jiyong answered, “Yeah. It was nice. We made some good memories here.”
Youngbae threw his head back to stare at the sky with Jiyong, “It’s fun in Seoul, we always make good memories at Seoul.”
Jiyong smiled slightly, his eyes taking a more dangerous glint, “You know, we can make at least one more good memory here.”
“Hmm?”
“Yeah.” Jiyong slid into the older man’s lap, taking Youngbae’s lips with his own. Youngbae leaned back slightly, accepting Jiyong’s kiss with soft movements of his lips and caresses down the younger man’s spine. After a short paradise, they parted their lips, both of them panting slightly.
Jiyong adopted a mischievous grin and pecked Youngbae’s lips again,
“You know, I always wanted to have sex under the stars.”
