Garden Goodness

So even though

dragonbladed1  and I live in a city area, i still like to have my summer greenery around. I find that the front yard postage stamp is large enough for a bunch of annuals and several apple barrels as container gardening. This year I did Chives (you can't kill them, they have been in this pot for years) spicy basil and sweet basil in a medium pot on the front stairs. I also have two large pots on the front postage stamp areas, one filled with tomato plants, cherry, grape, big boy, and the other pot has cucumbers! There is also several zuccini and summer squash plants at the back part of the 'front yard' and a lonely pepper plant from
dragonbladed1 's father. These are planted in the ground and have been nibbled on by some local creature.

The cherry tomatoes are in various stages of ripe and I have been happily picking and eating them as they ripen. He does not like raw tomatoes so they are all mine. Yes precious, all mine, there is nothing quite like fresh from the plant, tomatos still warm from the sun.

The cukes have been doing well and I saw about four in current stages of growth with many more flowers still on the plant and last night I picked my first cuke of the season! It is in the fridge waiting for when both he and I can share this first treat of the season as he is sweet to me and really helped out with the setup work to get this all going and the watering, so I want to make sure we both get some of the first fruit so to speak.

I did notice that on the summer squash, there is at least one growing and still many blooms so I hope we get a fair share of veggies from the plants. On a whim I planted green bean plants against the fence and they almost died out in the heat wave we had right after planting, but I looked last night and there are two whole beans and several small ones growing! Yippee! not really enough for a meal, but what the heck.
