She'd forgotten to turn on the lights in the library once she'd come here after classes, so as the sun began to sink outside the windows the room became darker, the shelves of books casting long shadows over the floor. Luckily there was a desk lamp, and if Kobe was going to keep her waiting she could at least use the time to get some of her own ( Read more... )

Tch. Why'd she care about his damn grades so much, anyway? Sure he wanted to pass, but the only reason he was here was to stop her nagging. At least he could smoke with everyone else gone, but she'd probably get on his case about that, too... In fact that was why he was late in the first place: a quick smoke break and a nap on the roof without someone telling him what to do was just what he needed.

"I'm here now, ain't I?" He stared down at the shorter girl, looking bored. She was worried about something, though, he could could both see and smell that much. "Hell's got you so worked up? You look like shit," he asked. Despite his slight concern on the inside, his tone was harsh.

"You don't have to curse, you know." In spite of her best efforts she knew she sounded irritated. Her gaze turned down to her books for a moment, shoulders rising and falling with an indrawn breath as she tried to calm herself down. She didn't like being told that she looked worked up, or that she looked like shit for that matter, which was never anything a girl wanted to hear. Especially from a cute boy, and he was cute, for all that he was lousy at schoolwork.

"It's nothing, anyway." If he wasn't going to bring up the exam, she certainly wasn't going to. "Just sit down, okay? I need to get home at some point tonight." The bossiness to her tone made her feel better. She was the tutor and that gave her some power, she supposed; maybe he wouldn't snitch on her if she did a good enough job helping him raise his grades. Maybe she had just imagined that he'd seen her cheating, anyway. "Did you remember your workbooks?"

Gah, what the hell? She was on him already. He ignored Kairi's scolding with a quiet grunt and flopped into the closest chair lazily, one arm over the back. At least he ticked her off, that was always fun. Flustering the poor girl was one of his favorite past times after all. Maybe he'd -

Whoah, never mind. Business time, apparently, with that voice. Kobe glanced away sheepishly in response, "Er, actually... What class were we here for again? Actually, shit, shouldn't you have the books, teach? Hell, just gimme the answers like you had last time."

Oh yeah, he'd seen it and he certainly remembered. It just hadn't quite occurred to him yet how that would reflect on someone who actually stayed awake in class.

If there was anyone who looked less like he wanted to be in a library, Kairi had yet to meet him. In the end it wasn't really her business whether he passed or failed; she was doing her best, and the rest was up to him, but it would have bothered her not to see him on graduation day. She wanted to poke him and tell him to sit up and pay attention--it would have been for his own good, after all--but she still couldn't bring herself to do it, sighing as she reached into her bag for her own workbook. "You can copy the questions out of mine on a piece of paper," she started to say.

Then he made that remark, mentioning the answers she'd had so casually and she had to look around quickly to make sure no one had overheard, forgetting for a moment that the library was empty except for them. "Don't talk about that! I don't know what you think you saw but I don't have any answers, okay?" Her voice had gone from a near-yell to a tense whisper on the words. She shoved the workbook across the table towards him. "Anyway, here's the book. Just ( ... )

Oh... Ooooh!

Kobe snatched up the workbook and waved it around nonchalantly. The malicious gleam in his eyes made it evident that he'd just connected the dots here. A grin to match spread across his face and he spoke in a low but intense tone, "C'mon, Kairi... My eyes ain't that bad, I know what I saw! And right now, they see a scared little girl. Now I know what was buggin' you... You think I'm gonna rat ya out!"

He drew his face a bit closer to Kairi's, running the workbook along the bottom of her chin. Perfect. He had an excuse to mess with her and she couldn't even argue! "Tryin' to get me to study offa' your notes... You cheat these, too? I guess it figures," he paused to snicker, "ya can't be nice, good-lookin', and smart! But it kinda' ticks me off the way you always act like I'm the bad kid. At least I never cheated!" It's actually become hard to tell if he's joking or serious...

Kairi wanted to grab the workbook back from him and hide behind it. The feeling of being figured out by the class delinquent wasn't a pleasant one, now that all her hopes of him never having noticed were dashed into pieces. Because she knew him, and she knew he wasn't going to let this go once he sunk his teeth into it. She glared at him as the workbook stroked along her chin. Her hand came up to swat it away ( ... )

The grin on his face grew. Kairi was really cute when she was flustered~! Kobe halfheartedly picks up and glances at the notes, not looking at her as he spoke, "Difference is I'm consistent and I never give a shit... 'Sides, I may skip out on class then cram offa' your notes at the last minute but that ain't cheating. Man... I'm not even in the mood to study anymore!"

Not that he had been before, but that's besides the point! This was too much fun. She could try to change the subject and argue all she wanted, but Kobe was in control here. She was the prey. They were so close to graduation, and what would those universities Kairi had her eye on think about such a smear on her record? The notes scattered a bit on the table as he dropped them and turned his gaze to Kairi, but not her face... "Right now I'd rather figure out what my silence is worth to you..."

Maybe she should have just let this study session go. It had been stupid to wait here for him when he probably would have forgotten all about it if she'd never mentioned it. Then again, maybe not. Maybe he was a lot smarter than he liked to put on. In any case, she didn't like one bit how the situation was rapidly being yanked out of her hands.

"What about your grades?" she said, trying to distract him. "Isn't that more important than worrying about whether or not I cheated? C'mon, I'll help you pass, I promise. Just let it go and we can think about how to make sure you graduate." She was almost pleading, and she didn't like that tone in her voice. She wasn't sure she liked the way he was looking at her either, not like his annoying tutor anymore but a little like something he wanted to eat up.

She hesitated, biting her lip. She really didn't want to ask, but... "What is your silence worth?"

((ooc: No problem! I'm having a lot of fun with it too. :D))

That was just it: Kobe wasn't an idiot. He was just lazy, and an asshole, and he did things his own way. He figured out the absolute bare minimum effort he could put into classes while still passing and did exactly that much.

"You just gave me the notes, stupid," he spat as he snatched the papers back up and stuffed them in a pocket, "I got time later." Oooh yes, she was worried now, just the way he liked it. Kobe leaned across the table, bringing their faces close.

The scowl softened into a smile and his voice was practically a low purr, "C'mon, Kairi, don't be so worked up. I know the only reason you put up with my shit is because ya care... And don't think I ain't noticed the way you look at me sometimes. What kinda' monster would I be to spurn the hopeless advances of such a cutie?" He tapped the table with a finger once and any trace of teasing or sarcasm left his voice:

"Drop the uniform."

"What?" He'd almost had her for a moment, talking so...so nicely, his voice low and almost warm, so different from the way he'd snapped and called her stupid just a moment ago. That had made her flush with anger, ready to snap back at him before he'd leaned in and called her cute and told her he had noticed things about her. Things about the way she felt about him. Maybe he really wasn't stupid at all.

But then-- "Drop the uniform? What?" Surely she hadn't heard correctly. He couldn't expect her to take off her uniform here, in the middle of the library where anyone could walk in, and just for him, just because he'd told her to. She bit her lip. Was he blackmailing her? "No way. You're crazy, I'm not doing that."

"Nobody's gonna walk in, don't worry about it! The library automatically locks from the inside, remember? I moved the chair ya propped it with, didn't want some nosy-ass teacher asking what we were doin' here so late," he assured, as if that was her only concern here, voice dropped back to its previous almost calming tone.

Kobe's face, however, showed that he was dead serious. "What's crazy is that Miss Top Marks can also have such a nice little body! Not that ya'd ever admit you were proud of it, but you know you wanna show me, don't ya Kairi..?" He was practically affectionate in the way he spoke, even throwing in a little wink at the end there.

Yet again he dropped the pleasantries for effect, "Though I guess any girl could get good grades if she's a cheater."

She dropped her gaze, color climbing into her cheeks. She didn't like that tone of voice, how confused he was making her with the way he spoke, as though he actually felt affection for her when she'd always been nothing more than his annoying tutor. "No I don't. I don't want to show you anything." Maybe, maybe she'd thought once or twice about what it would be like to be his girlfriend (not that he'd ever look twice at a teacher's pet like her, she'd been certain). He would be impossible, and probably a sloppy kisser, and someone who'd want to grope her all the time--even in the library. She'd seen him with other girls ( ... )

Actually her suspicions weren't that far off - Kobe had entertained thoughts about the redhead himself before... But they were by far more lewd and he couldn't possibly see himself putting up with her romantically. Even in those fantasies she nagged him: slow down, or you're not kissing properly, or don't tear my clothes! He was simultaneously impressed and annoyed with how much of a fight Kairi was putting up here.

When those buttons came undone, however, the delinquent whistled softly. "That's cute~," he japed. "Now why ya wearin' something so flashy if you don't want anyone to see it?" He craned his neck for a better look, leaning across the table. Man, those things really were cute! He couldn't just let end here! Kobe was gonna push his luck as far as it could go. He was still in control here, after all.

"Yeah, I'm a pervert, whatever. And yeah, this is blackmail, glad we're on the same page! So I shouldn't have to explain to ya how important it is that you keep goin'..."
