Show those pearly whites

Am I the only person who really doesn't mind going to the dentist? I had an appointment yesterday, I went, I had my teeth cleaned, I chit-chatted a bit, I got a new toothbrush, and I left. No big deal. I didn't worry about it prior to going and I wasn't particularly relieved when I left. It never even occurred to me to mind the visit ( Read more... )

Now, see, I understand why YOU would hate going to the dentist and I cannot say that I wouldn't feel the same way in your position.

*Shudder*

Your poor, poor mouth!

The hygienists at the dentist I went to until I was maybe 16 (mom's insurance changed) always, ALWAYS made my gums bleed a little when they cleaned my teeth. They said it wouldn't happen if I flossed. I am sure they were right, but when I went to the new dentist for the first time, and the teeth-cleaning had no pain component, it was as if a giant lie had been unraveled.

I went to a dentist once where a hygienist did the same thing... She did the first tooth at the back and I could taste blood... I immediately requested the other (there were 2 working there) and she never ever made me bleed. I mean you gotta have a lotta plaque... at least a few inches worth. Gah.

At least you made the switch, eh!
I was amused because my dentist said "Are you flossing regularly? Because it looks like you are."

I mean, I was going to lie anyway, but this way I knew that it didn't really matter that I wasn't flossing as regularly as I should be. It was like when I had a head gear and my orthodontist would tell me that I was doing a great job even though I wasn't even wearing it anymore. (For a while I would take it off in my sleep and then I just gave up.)

I'm glad that your gums stopped bleeding! Bloody mouths are not fun.

I kinda enjoy it myself. I don't even mind when I get fillings done! It's kinda cool walking around with that numbness in my mouth.

Do you bite your face to see if you can feel it when it's numb? ...Or am I the only one who does that...?

Because it is a good thing to have a professional check out your teeth once in a while?
