(larp) The source of OWbN politics/drama in a nutshell

May 08, 2009 15:25

Everyone thinks that they're better than someone else, and that said other person/people are what's wrong with the Org.

This dynamic exists within a single chronicle, so multiply that by 100 chronicles and you get the OWbN drama machine.

drama, owbn, larp

Thats always been my thing. Problems arise when one group of people think they're better than another group of people, and that their shit doesnt stink.

Agreed. No one is squeaky clean of this, and everyone ain't perfect. People that think they are are full of it.

I often estimate that there are four factions of "I know best" within any given chronicle, and there are ~100 chronicles in the Org...

If you apply the South Park Principle to this, at least 25% of the human population is retarded -- which makes for an interesting analysis of those 4 groups per chronicle. :P

And everyone's opinion of who the retarded person/group is changes depending on what group you're in.

Sounds like we need standardized testing for LARP.

Because it's helped the public education system so much? :p

It was decent until No Child Left Behind.

Are we in the era of No LARPer Left Behind?

I went to school years before the no child left behind policies went into effect. I disagree with your assessment that they were decent beforehand. Better, yes, but far from decent. :p

I disagree with the standardized testing assessment. It showed that some schools worked how they were supposed to, but not necessarily that the system worked over all.

400 I know best factions. We should get some of them to take sides... and then they can go to war... and the winners are right, but then the winners will splinter and then they will go to war, and so on, and so forth, until eventually we have one group, they are right, and yeah. It would be a long winded, bloody, and violent way of settling things. Then again, that's more my style.

You'd also have maybe five players left to play the actual game. :p

Absolutely.

I try to maintain that everyone likes larping for different reasons and that none of those reasons are inherently better or worse than any others. When one type of person or point of view has hold over the game as a whole then I think no matter which style it is, our game suffers. After all, its just that, a game. It should be fun for as many people as can be.
