Were there any Princes in WW Canon that *weren't* portrayed as this powerful? Just because only a few did it doesn't mean it was written from the perspective that only they had the power to.

North American Princes are typically pretty easy to topple by WW's standards. The Prince of Charleston was basically killed by a strong wind once the Sabbat decided they wanted his city. Same goes for Bennison Hodge, Prince of Atlanta before the Sabbat took it.

These guys played politics well, but they didn't really have the might to stand up to a Sabbat shovelhead pack with some hacksaws that didn't care to listen to them orate - much less be able to stand off with a strong Justicar. Note that there are also strong and weak Justicars.

The Prince of Berlin (Wilhelm Waldberg in OWbN - WW named him Gustav but Waldberg predates the publication of WW's Berlin by Night) is known for killing Archons sent to his Domain. Justicars are afraid to follow-up on it, knowing Waldberg could kill them too if they got in his way. But that's Berlin - it and most of Europe is an exception to the way things work in our game which is set mostly in North America.

A smart Justicar should still be polite to North American Princes just because it's good politics. I always attempt to show some amount of respect to a Prince my Justicar is in the Domain of - you know that from personal experience I hope. ;) But a strong Justicar can still tear down a North American Prince pretty easily if they believe they have good reason to. See the Justicar Streck/Archon Rhumer/Prince Saladin situation in Tampa.

I keep calling him Wahlburg, like Marky Mark. That makes me snicker on occasion.

I actually have a great deal of respect for Marky Mark in his post-Funky Bunch years. He's a rather good actor, and I think, by very definition, that means he plays! :p

I liked The Corrupter, which was a similarly themed movie he was in with Chow Yun Fat.

Less action in this one, probably. But it's filled with intrigue and awesome.

That was Chicago 10 + years ago. They always sent Archon Gurgle; well that's all the archon got out before they were torpored and sent back in a box.

I came in at the tail end of it but Chris has some great stories. =)

That's awesome. I'll have to hit Chris up for some of those stories sometime. Most of what I know about that history I've picked up in bits and pieces, direct accounts would be nice. (:

Hodge also had the derangement where he thought he was completely invincible. He wasn't a pushover, because he would throw himself at packs headfirst without thinking.

His sire was also the real power in the city, and she was portrayed as if she could kill pretty much anyone before he saw it coming.

Although, I've only read about them in the Atlanta book (Necropolis?) which is mostly focused on wraiths. It doesn't say how Hodge died.

Hodge goes nuts in the middle of the battle, walks into a wall of Obtenebration and into the Abyss I think, and is later diablerized by Anatole for no decipherable reason. He fights off a lot of shovelheads but pretty much gets worn down (out of willpower and traits?) and goes off into a fugue.
