Back in 2009, my Clarion classmate Kater Cheek started a webcomic. I've written about Kater before - she's authored the Urban Fantasy series featuring heroine Kit Melbourne. That series starts with the opening line, "It was a slow afternoon in Cafe Ishmael when James read the tea leaves that predicted my murder." (From "Seeing Things" by Kater Cheek.)
So it would have been no surprise if the webcomic had been about shapely heroine who battled supernatural monsters.
Kater's into surprises. The webcomic was about - Chickens. It features a flock of chickens and a randy rabbit named Vincent, who sometimes gets inappropriate. And Kater herself, as the House Rooster. It's hilarious.
The webcomic is still on the web, but just in time
for Christmas, it's also been compiled into a paper edition, available as "Coop de Grace - The Collection." The 8.5 x 11 format is large enough that the comics are easy to read, and I'm really enjoying going through it all over again and catching comics I missed the first time round. It would be a great stocking stuffer for anyone who likes chickens and/or has a wicked sense of humor.
