You'd think that after taking out a massive government facility protected by can-toi, getting shot in the gut, and being on a spaceship that narrowly escaped getting pulled into a thinny, Cuthbert wouldn't be averse to lying still for a day or two

It's a good while after the continuity above that Alain returns. Bootheels click on the metal grating of these halls in any case, but he maybe lets it be a little louder than usual, to make sure they know he's coming, before he appears in the doorway.

Cuthbert is, alas and alack, not in a condition to ake much advantage of privacy.

This doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate it.

There's a smile as he calls, "Come in."

There's only limited privacy available in the infirmary anyway, what with the large windows on two walls. Still.

Alain opens the door, and steps in to lean back against a counter. An answering smile, directed at both of them.

"How're you doing?

"He's restless," Susan calls over, smiling. "But that's no surprise, I wot."

More footsteps from down the corridor. Two pairs.

And then Kaylee sticking her head in the infirmary. "Wei, you guys." Beaming. "Up for a visitor?"

Cuthbert raises himself up a bit, smiling. "Come on in."

Then, in a clearly teasing tone, "I could use some company aside from these two."

Lilly steps around the door into the infirmary, keeping her smile even as she sees Koosh in one bed and Mal asleep in the other.

"What up, sai? I heard you were driving people crazy and I came to yell at you for trying to take my job."

Drily, "I think the two of you can share that job just fine."

A quick smile at her, as she steps in. "Wèi."

[sai_delgado]

"Kaylee. Lilly." Susan beams at them both, visibly brightening.

"It's good to see ye both."

"Hey, honey, I don't know about everyone else, but I've been driving Alain crazy longer than you've been alive. Or dead." Cuthbert settles back, grinning. "So. How is everyone who's not stuck in here?"

Lilly smiles warmly at Alain, who is every bit as unhurt as reported, and Susan, who looks tired but also okay.

"Wèi, Alain. Good to see you too, Susan. And Koosh?"

She grins at him.

"You may have been driving people crazy longer, but I think I do it better. As for everyone who's not in here, they seem okay. Landsharks aside, I think the bar and the people in it are doing fine."

[gonna_live]

"Seems like most everybody's fine." Kaylee's smile is wide. "Folks in the bar seem to be all right -- stopped by earlier. And everybody here's fine...or gettin' better, anyhow. So."

Her smile widens.

"Shiny."

[sai_delgado]

"The two of ye'd be quite a team, I wot." It's a little amused, and she's looking back and forth between Lilly and 'Bert.

"But I'm glad to hear-- glad to hear everyone's -- that they're all right." More softly.

Most everybody's fine, anyway.

Well. Nobody died, and that's far better than they could have expected. Ka speaks, and the world moves on.

His smile's not quite as wide, but he is sincerely, deeply glad that everyone's whole or healing.

To Lilly: "Different methods. You cover a wider field. I specialize."

He reaches for Susan's hand, smiling. "But, yes, good to hear everyone's alright. I'm hoping it won't be too long before I'm back on my feet."

Lilly beams.

"That's excellent, Koosh. And yeah, you need to get back to the bar. You won't believe what Kooshbert Jr's gotten up to in your absence."
