And not to make it more complicated, but how much of a difference would there be/have been in Gileadean and Mejis-style wedding traditions? 'Cause I'm thinking there would be at least a little bit of one. And I know that Gen has millicanoned through Alain's thoughts that the symbol of engagement wasn't always a ring, but sometimes it was. (Clearly.)
I will go through at some point very soon and pick out all the near-references to various traditions I can think of -- I know that Susan actually thinks at one point of the distant "hall where [they] would be joined and then saluted beneath the electric lights," which gives us one tiny canonical tradition, yay! Whatever the salute is...
IC, I am sure Lilly would be beyond delighted to assist and plan. I know that if flowers are involved, Susan will think of silkflowers (her favorites), but also of roses, and THAT will lead to the Anthy question. Kitty has offered to help and already scared her half to death (which was entirely too much fun - I am a bad mun) with the story of Isabel's wedding plans, which helpfully reinforces the desire for something very simple. :)
Ooh, they're going to need to talk about Anthy soon, anyway. I don't know if you saw the Anthy-Bert thread, which I have no link to because I am lazy, but he's done the resolving to not be unneccessarily mean to her thing. Whether not being unneccessarily mean extends to letting her have a hand in the wedding plans...well, we'll see.
