:)
So I got to meet Jeff Martin last night, along with my pal Shan.
We had just scored an excellent park
right out the front of the back door to
the Corner Hotel when I looked out and
saw Jeff hanging near the door way.
I smiled and he waved, then he walked into the band room.
As Shan and I walked towards the venue, he ended up coming out!
So I shook his hand, introduced myself,
said we were coming to the show that night and
were looking forward to it, and Shan shook his hand too.
Jeff was wearing a bandanna, white shirt and blue jeans.
Gosh he's big man, tall and solid.
He said it was the first time he has worn white since he'd been here,
because of the stinking hot weather.
He looked at us and said 'Normally, I'd be like you, all black!'
Hahah ;D
The meeting was short and sweet, he's a cool guy.
After that we went upstairs for a few cold ones
and he ended up coming up there too,
Shan was going to buy him a beer
but his mate already bought them white wines!
Classy.
Hee hee.
The gig was great.
He played 'Release'...
god that's a huge song for me...
He also sang a couple of lines from
'I am stretched on your grave'
God, it was awesome, I love that song.
Opened with 'Bazaar'
and finished with 'Sister Awake'
- where he asked all the girls to belly dance ;)
He told us a lot about the future of what he's going to be doing.
And the whole gig was recorded,
then burnt to CDs that had the art ready to go and done for them!
So I'm listening to it right now.
**So cool!**
He said these gigs here were the last ones
where he's going to play old Tea Party songs
and the last time he's doing acoustic stuff.
In the future he is going back to the rock!
Bringing back the electric with the middle eastern influences!
We all screamed 'YES!'
He played a couple of new tracks and they were awesome.
Can't wait to hear them electric.
He also said he lives in Ireland now,
so here's hoping I can get to see some
of the new shows when I'm over there later this year!
I'll post photos soon!
Got some great ones of instruments he played
and the drummer's set up filled with all kinds of drums...
*yay*
