Okay so I need to update. So my grandpa from Cleveland, OH and my uncle from Philadelphia, PA are visiting and my aunt and cousins live in the area so I've been hanging out with them a lot for the past couple of days. So yesterday I suggested that we go to Salem and check out the witch museum, you know, check out some of the history that I learned in high school. It was pretty cool and this is definitely a picture post. We also visited this place called Marblehead which is like below the panhandle of MA I think....anyway it was fun messing with the hermit crabs. Going back to Salem, there was this kind of tour thing at the witch museum and at the end they were comparing the hysteria of the witch trials to later events in history which I found quite interesting. For example during the 50s when Arthur Miller was writing the Crucible, everybody was scared about communism so Miller wrote the Crucible as a way to compare the two events and make a statement about how mass hysteria can lead to a lot of trouble. The museum provided a formula:

fear + trigger = scapegoat

some examples are:
-devil/god + unexplained illness = 150 people hanged after being accused of witchcraft
-japan + pearl harbor = japanese americans in internment camps
-communism + mccarthyism = blacklisted Americans
-infection + AIDS = gay community

I also thought it was pretty cool to learn about the history of how witches were first known as pagan midwives who would cure people and help with chilbirth using herbs and stuff but then were turned into monsters with green faces and broomsticks because of the fear of the christian people towards these women. And now there still exisits a Wican religion which attempts to go back to the principles and beliefs of the origianl pagan women. Well enough with the history lesson, I just thought it was quite interesting. On with the pictures!

Have to include a picture of Sammy! He's so cute when he falls asleep on his back!

The next couple are of me modeling my alligator earrings
