her life has all the elements necessary for a movie - an unlikely "alternative" protagonist, a rags to riches storyline, real swashbuckling action, and plenty of saucy bits!

what are the chances that i'd actually see a reference to this in a book erroneously "condemned" to the pulp bin by unaware library assistants?
but indeed, a semi-fictionalised story of "The Widow Ching, Pirate" was found in a collection of short fictions by Borges...
