I thought I solidified my feelings on MegaMan in Brawl pretty nicely in the following SmashBoards post. I wanted to put it here too, even though I only have 3 LJ friends, I know it will actually be read here.
You know, I'm really gathering mixed feelings about MegaMan in Brawl.
Probably since Melee, I've wanted to see him in Smash. Especially seeing how Sakurai has handled characters like Kirby and Mr. Game & Watch, by gathering abilities from a vast amount of games and implimenting them in everything from special moves, to throws, to taunts, and regular A button moves. After seeing Sonic in all his retro goodness, Sakurai completely won me over and I know that he could bring MegaMan into Brawl the way he should be.
That being said, I don't trust Capcom. Capcom is money hungry, especially with MegaMan. They use him as a cash-cow these days. How else do you explain games as awesome as Powered Up! and Maverick Hunter X showing up on a terrible machine like the PSP?
Though I do trust Sakurai, I do not trust Capcom. These two facts cancel each other out. In other words:
Capcom, when approached, probably tried to strong-arm the use of one of the two newer franchises - MegaMan ZX and MegaMan StarForce - to use as sheer publicity. Sakurai, I believe, would not allow this, and would probably cancel the deal.
... but, it's amazing to me to see how many people are rallying behind MegaMan since Sonic has been revealed. Clearly, being blue isn't the only thing they have in common.
