The Day After.

It appears that Obama is now the POTUS-Elect.  All in all, I'm pretty happy about it all.  This campaign season was waaaaay too long and drawn out.  However, I can rejoice in that the era of GWB is finally over.  The Dems expanded their majority in the Senate, but failed to achieve a filibuster-proof majority.  Perhaps this is for the best.  Although I generally support the party this time around, I know that too much power would probably go to their heads like the Republicans did for the benefit of the less-moderate members of the party.  I don't want them going too overboard on certain issues that didn't play a big role in the election.

Oh, and Alaska, you FAIL.  Good job reelecting a corrupt gassbag who is now a convicted corrupt gasbag.

I think that this was a good election for those of us moderates who have been alienated by the Republicans.  (Recall that I was a former McCain supporter back in 2000.  I hate to see him lose an election, but he turned his back on what he was back then.  He wasn't the same McCain that I saw as one of the great hopes of the Republican party.)  I hope that this administration will make a good run of it and not pander to their 'base', else we the "evil fence-sitters" will not let them stay too long.  This was the mistake the Republicans made after getting drunk on power these past 8 years.  This is your chance, Democratic Party.  Don't screw it up.
