Ok so we tried to start a civilized conversation on Jenny's jounal, but she seems to get so outraged with her liberal views that she can't spit any information out that makes sense. So we shall continue a political view forum here. Leave your views on the subject. Personall I believe Kerry is a fool. Someone who would alienate his own men after ( Read more... )

Why Bush should be President

President Bush should be president for many different reasons, but namely for making the US more safe for her inhabitants. Bush is the ideal candidate for an office such as President because he an efficient decision-maker and does not hesitate when he makes a decision. George Bush is also courageous and always stands up for his beliefs, even when people lost faith and rallied against him. The most important characteristic that Bush has is that he does not look away when terrible things are happening, but quickly gives a helping hand without hesitation for his own reputation. Many veterans and soldiers still in the military rally for Bush and the fact that he went into a country that everyone had given hope up on, and pulled up a resemblance to order. Although Iraq is not up to scale yet, you cannot expect the change to come overnight. “Rome was not built in a day”.
After 9/11, everyone came together to support George Bush when he declared war. At that time, almost everyone agreed that what we were doing was the right thing to do. Bush was presented a report that contained a warning that there may be weapons of mass destruction. A bill was passed, and Bush was allowed to go into Afghanistan and any place that may have harbored terrorists of any kind (Bill Number H.J.RES.114 and SJRES 23), which included Iraq (SJRES 23) (Senator Kerry voted yes to these bills). In this time that passed, our military captured many key terrorists and organizers of 9/11 in Afghanistan, as well as finding Saddam Hussein. Although at that time, Saddam Hussein had been supporting terror as well as harboring terrorists for years, which could have ultimately challenged the security of the United States and the safety of the people. He also was plotting to produce mass amounts of anthrax, nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade (http://www.worldhistory.com/wiki/G/George-W.-Bush.htm). Still, we are in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting to keep the safety of America as well as the people in those countries. Until they are safe, America cannot truly be a safe place because the terrorists will still be controlling the emotions of those people, which can lead them to be used as pawns to cripple the United States.
One of the most important traits that I feel George Bush has is that he stood up for his belief that all people should be allowed the12 basic rights as stated in our Constitution as the Bill of Rights. These basic rights are the foundation of our government and Bush believed that everyone should have these basic rights. As the bigger country, and because we felt that Iraq was a potential danger to the US, he reached out and grasped the reins of the crumbling Iraqi “government”, or dictatorship, and slowed them to a halt. After plucking Saddam Hussein out of the high seat, he then proceeded to help rebuild (of course he didn’t do it himself, the troops did all the tough stuff, but Bush was the brains behind this operation). Bush showed the Iraqi people that they didn’t have to live in fear. George Bush promised on March 17, 2003 that:"no more poison factories, no more executions of dissidents, no more torture chambers and rape rooms (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/03/20030317-7.html).

If I were living in a country like that where the only emotion I felt was fear, then I would be praying for help to come. Bush stepped up and gave them an answer to their prayers. How could a person forget the toppling of the statues of Hussein and the joy on the Iraqi civilians faces? Bush helped to liberate an estimated 25.3 million people (http ://news.bostonherald.com/ international/view.bg?articleid =34753). Now, these people will have the chance to vote. Vote, a privilege that we Americans take for granted. The Iraqi’s will be able to choose who they want to lead them. Bush courageously stood up for what he believed is right, and will continue to do so without backing down.
