I kind of thought the same thing about "brownie hound", but that explanation doesn't work in the context of the scene. Vernon wasn't kissing anyone's ass, or brown nosing anyone.
While I was doing my Googlin' on The Breakfast Club, I ran across several websites that had all kinds of information. Apparently there was supposed to be a female gym teacher- but a lot of her scenes were cut, and the scenes she was going to remain in were given to Carl, the janitor. Weird!!
A bunch of other scenes were filmed and were in the original cut of the movie- but the studio demanded he cut the movie down because they thought it was too long. They destroyed the prints- but apparently John Hughes had the one existing print. Maybe they can re-release "The Breakfast Club" on DVD for a FOURTH time with that stuff on it. The current DVD only has a lousy trailer- it deserves a nice, special edition. It doesn't even have the video for Wang Chung's "Fire In the Twilight" which features Molly Ringwald sitting in a movie theater watching the movie. It was rarely seen on MTV, although you can find a blurry copy of it on You Tube.
