"I'm My Own Mascot" Testimonial CONTEST!!
Hey guys!
So I'm premiering my second collection of I'm My Own Mascot comics at Otakon at the end of July. The cover of the last book was a parody of the auto-bio graphic novel "Blankets". This one is going to be a parody of self-help books and will be entitled This Book Will Definitely Change Your Life! (maybe) (it's even going to include a pull-out certificate of achievement from Awesome University).
Anyway, to go with the whole "self help book" theme, I want to put little joke testimonials on the back cover, and here's where you guys come in...
ANNOUNCING THE I'M MY OWN MASCOT "THIS BOOK WILL DEFINITELY CHANGE YOU LIFE(maybe)" COVER TESTIMONIAL CONTEST!!!
Here's the deal: I want you to write a fake 1-3 sentence testimonial of how Kevin Bolk and/or "Mascot" comics have changed your life (for better or worse, but preferably better). Make it as realistic or ridiculous as you like, just make sure it's funny. Include a first/last name and city/state/country to go with the testimonial(doesn't have to he your real name/location, it's just what's going to appear under your fake testimonial).
Post your entries here or email them to me at me@kevinbolk.com. I will pick the funniest and those folks will win a free signed copy of the book and have their testimonial featured on the back cover.
Sounds simple enough? Here's a few rules...
1) Try to keep it to as few sentences as possible. The longer the entry, the less likely I'll be able to use it on the book. If I like it but it goes too long, I may have to cut some of it out and I'd hate to do that. -_-
2) Keep it clean. The comic is relatively all-ages.
3) For your "testimonial name", please make it sound like a person's name and not an internet handle. Try to make it look like a real testimonial. You are welcome to use your real name, but keep in mind if you win that's what's gonna be on the cover.
4) I will correct spelling and grammar on entries picked for the book, but please save me some work and run a spell check before you submit. X.x
5) And for legal reasons: By submitting an entry, you're giving me permission to use your testimonial on the back cover of the book and in any promotional material for it, without compensation beyond the contest prize.
Deadline for entries is Friday, July 9th so I will have time to get the book to the printer before Otakon.
Have fun and go nuts, guys! Can't wait to see what craziness you come up with. I'll keep you all posted on the progress of the book.
