Thaddius lethargically lifted himself from his stomach with an awkward push-up type motion and kicked off the white cotton sheet that had covered him. The sun was intruding through the slits between his 20 year old shades and he strained his eyes as he pulled on the cord to look outside. The day was an odd mixture of gloom and sunshine. Everywhere bulky marshmallow clouds were slowly sliding by above, an ugly gray color like snow thrown haphazardly into a bank along a sidewalk. Beyond along a nearly straight line of the horizon the sun looked squeezed between the earth and the clouds, beaming a brilliant orange beneath the ugliness.

Thaddius yawned and turned to stumble towards the bathroom door like a confused zombie...
