I brought chocolates this morning to share with the office; well those that are in the other over the holiday (like me), and upon opening the chocolates had melted into each other. Hmmm i wondered why they were in the fridge. I'll have to eat them all myself I suppose. The thought was there.

Christmas was a little dull this year but I guess this is the lull before the storm. we are 26 weeks pregnant as of Wednesday. The lil' bambino is doing some sommersaults in the belly these days and I love that feeling. My New Years resolution is to post more... i think it was the same last year, but things are different nowadays. I live in the city now, have access to the internet more often than not, and i think its important to have a record of my new life changing lil' person who will be joining us soon. I can hardly wait to see what we have produced together.

I do however have to decide whether to use this LJ account or my blogspot or both. Its seems like too much of a commitment to use both. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. I am leaning to this one because at least I have a few friends with kids, and a few that live over seas.

2008 was a big year for me. A year ago today, we were hiding in our house in Karen because of the mass chaos that was happening in the streets of Nairobi. After experiencing just a taste of teargas near the grocery store, that was enough. Time to stock up on what ever we could find and hibernate. The things we saw on the news before the media was gagged was unbelievable. People being chased and killed before the camera, police firing their loaded guns into crowds. Women being hauled off by groups of men. For me, I experienced a crisis of faith and hope in humanity last year and it has not entirely regained itself.

Obama helped however. The moment I learned about him, i knew that here was a man that was not only looking to unite Americans but the world over. Since his win, he is the son of the world, with everyone claiming a piece of him. And why not I guess. The tipping point of this world needs restitution and he, i think, will be a key. If anyone wants a 'Obama' Kenyan lesso (African fabric) please let me know and I will send you one. They are too cool!

A highlight of the year was traveling to Canada to see my two girls get married. Such happy times with family and friends. It came at a perfect moment, just as I was recovering from a miscarriage. Little did I know that while I was downing JD and Cokes on the plane that cells were splitting once again in my belly. My brother in law is the one who actually bought me the test, and low and behold, we are pregnant. No more JD and cokes :-(, and the month was monger and more tiring than expected but its the price you pay for incubating your spawn. My sister's face when I came out of the bathroom was priceless and something I will remember the rest of my life. She held me so tight and it was exactly what I needed.

Tomorrow we are traveling to Zanzibar for our 'baby'moon. Last year we took 10 people on our honeymoon and we figured that we deserved a little along time to bring in the New Year. I can hardly contain my excitement. Sun and sand for one whole week. I'll be sure to post my photos. Stone Town here we come!
