First off, apologies for the video size, but that's just how DailyMotion has them. This is an official video of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Curiosity", and her second single from her previous album. Much like American Idol, we had a Canadian Idol, and she was one of the participants. This was supposed to be her more mature album, but her record label didn't like that this song and video was so "adultish" when they were trying to make her a tween sensation. They even went so far as to remove this version of the song from the album, and release a remix version that makes it sound like a more happier song. So this video was deleted from Vevo and forbid to be played on any music video channels, YouTube, and even the song itself isn't played on the radio. Thankfully though, this is the internet and anything "forbidden" can eventually get leaked. DailyMotion doesn't care about much of the copyrights. Hell, cam girls upload teasers on the site to promote their own sites.
This is by far my favourite song by her, and I love the issue that it deals with. Quote "Jepsen sings about being poorly treated by a bad boy, and begs for more of his love, fighting to keep her relationship alive." Compared to a lot of her other songs, and what her label makes her put out, this is a big deal.
I guess the one downside to being an "idol" is that your label essentially owns you, and they likely couldn't care less about artist's integrity. Just sales. Still, this song is one of the most bought EP's and digital downloads. Even her fans, now that we've seen this video, have more respect for her because she's capable of coming out with songs and videos like this.
I can only hope that her label loosens up some.
