For Myaxx-mun: "pre-AF but post-Null Void Kevin "shenanigans"?"
He watches from his car as the rat closes the deal.
He wears sunglasses: even at night. Plastic gas station knock-off Wayfarers. They look cool.
Plus they hide his eye: what used to be the Galvan one. It's still slightly larger than the other eye. It still bulges oddly. It makes his entire face seem slightly lopsided.
Or his entire face might be slightly lopsided. Kevin can't quite tell or bring himself to care.
It's human enough. He's normal, human height. Taller than he was, of course, but he was eleven then and now he's...
...he'll work on that later. Stuff like that seems to be slowly sorting itself out. Patience has never been one of Kevin's strong points, but it seems to go down a little easier now. Maybe because he's already been waiting for what seems like forever. So what if his back and ribcage still bulge in places they shouldn't? Under an over-sized hoodie, you can't even tell. He is weaker now, physically, and that's taken some getting used to, but Kevin considers that a fair trade. Especially when he can always borrow the strength of concrete or steel for a little while.
Two arms, two legs, two eyes, two ears, one nose, one mouth, and nothing else. That's human. So what if it's a little ugly? Kevin's been ugly for years now. He wasn't even all that great looking before. Greasy and scrawny.
He and the rat sit in his car.
Argit is funny. Kevin's almost positive he is. He talks slick. He knows what's up. Kevin will know too. It's just...what's the word? Inevitable. A month ago Kevin couldn't keep track of what day of the week it was. Now his pockets are full of cash from parts they've just run. Now his stomach is full of Burger King, because Argit likes Burger King. Which makes Kevin a little suspicious of Burger King. A month ago he wouldn't have given Burger King a second thought.
He'll be talking slick soon. Argit doesn't need to know. Like the contacts he has that he's always known Argit doesn't need to know about. He's done big things. Argit has no idea who's laughing with him.
Argit is fine, but Kevin could be better. He's been better. He will be better. The rat will never see it coming. It's not even that he dislikes the guy, exactly, but liking isn't something Kevin does. Biding, apparently, now is. Biding his time until the fog lifts completely. Until he can open all the doors. Until the world is his in every way but literally. He doesn't want it like that anymore. That was childish. He can see so many other ways now.
The future's so bright the shades are almost necessary.
