Maybe I just have paranoid delusions but I can see the day that some
big marketing firm will hire a couple thousand Indians to compile data
using human specific skills, such as read a livejournal and tie that
info in with other info they collect on you....you know a company like
ChoicePoint or something will probably do it.. They already collect
shitloads of data on us and then leave it vulnerable to crooks that
want to exploit that info. and then I get to thinking, well who
is the most craft political genius of our time? Karl Rove...and
he started out in data collection/direct mail...so you know that
politicians, at least successful ones mine data on constituents...I
guess what got me on this train of thought was the article I just read
about how newspapers are opting not to publish news now since reporters
just went to jail...so that got me thinking about how the media is very
influenced nowadays by our political system and being that that seems
like a form of censorship, I started thinking about how we are at a
time in technological history that would make it very possible for a
government to control dissent in a country. it got me thinking about a
line from a nirvana song 'just because your not paranoid, doesn’t mean they're not after you' I just think that it probablly means that they are good at doing what they do.
