an open question to all armchair anthropologists...
so i just finished social construction of reality and the way that I understand it is that society...well to borrow computer lingo..is like the programming and we are like the cpu. our reality is a social construction. now this doesnt mean that because you and I are from the same country or even the same block that we live in the same reality, realities are as different as people, but it does mean that when we were growing up our brain created the reality that we exist in based on our significant others. these realities interact with the realities of other people that you interact with, and the people they interact with etc.. so with this in mind and also keep in mind cultural relativity, does this mean that some societies are more or less likely to create worlds that are more attune to our biological needs, or more or less likely to create worlds that are harmonious, in the sense of war/greed/etc? Ive wondered about this lately...I mean I do know that Berger and Luckmann would say that by using the language of one reality (the reality of the computer world) that I am distorting my understanding of social construction....but anyways...im open to thoughts.
