TOWED AWAY

Aug 14, 2007 15:46

I wanted a way to procrastinate, but not like this.

This afternoon I discovered that my car had been towed. I walked nearly two miles to the impound and paid over $200 to retrieve my car. Now I'm back, and I'm pissed.

Granted, it's my fault. I parked my car in what is clearly a no parking, tow-away zone. But last night, after I'd had a martini and was then in desperate need of releasing that martini (I had to pee, in other words), those prohibitions were not quite so clear.

The real rub comes from my car's being towed by the exact same people that had it towed before, the stupid condo construction crew that has reserved (thanks, City Hall) roughly one tenth the parking on my street, despite the fact that they rarely if ever use all that space and were definitely not using anywhere near all that space today.

Dirty Mexicans.
