Half-Committing to the Time Period

Spoilers to follow for the most recent episode of RuPaul's Drag Race.

This week was an acting challenge, and as usual, we get all of the queens participating in a poorly written pastiche - this time to the 1990's incarnation of Beverly Hills 90210, with Jenny Garth and Tori Spelling as Guest Judges and Directors. In other words, they're helping Tori Spelling pay off some of the mountains of debt she and her husband are in. It's nice the show helps people like that.

For some reason, Peppermint got to pick out everyone's roles for them. If they said why, then Ray & I totally missed it. Aja bitched and moaned about the role she got, she wanted Shea's role, and when Shea offerend to switch, Aja then tried to be a martyr about it and say she didn't want to basically look bad. Bitch, TOO LATE. This isn't the first time she's pulled ridiculousness on the show this season, and it gets less cute the more it happens.

The piece was pretty awful. It was hard to tell who was really good in it and who was really bad in it, since it's an edited showing of a horribly written piece. The filming of it made it look like Nina was going to be horrible, but she really wasn't. Trinity was ok, but I didn't think she was funnier than Valentina.

And when it came to the runway - a Big Hair challenge, I thought Valentina's look was FAR better than Trinity's look. I actually totally hated Trinity's runway look. But she won again - not giving Valentina the win she should have gotten. I'm think they're doing all these questionable challenge wins in order to try to not make it so obvious who is going to be in the Top 3. But if Alexis or Trinity are in the Top 3, I will BARF. I didn't like Alexis' runway. And in the Untucked, where Trinity claimed that Alexis was her biggest competition, and that the judges SEE something in her. UGH. Seriously? Alexis and Trinity are just not likable. They're not. Alexis is bossy and over-anal. Trinity is bitchy and foolish. And I have issues with the aesthetics of both of them.

I LOVED Nina's runway, and I thought her runway was much stronger than Sasha's and that their performances were about on the same level, but I feel like they put Nina in the bottom because she was more capable of sending Aja home in the lipsynch - who was terrible in the challenge and on the runway. Michelle was praising her look as the best, but I did not like the look at all. I loved Peppermint's and Farrah's runway looks, but they were simply deemed Safe.

Anyways, Nina did send Aja home, and we're left with another week of asking when are Alexis, Trinity, and Farrah going to go home? Not that I hate Farrah, lookswise, she has some great instincts, but performance and presence-wise, she's not as strong as others.
