'ELLO!!

Sep 06, 2006 23:57

Holy crap do I wish I could sum up Dragon*Con with words. It was an unbelievably fantastic weekend (well, more like a week since I was there for 6 days XD) filled with great friends, great times, and great surroundings. I really had an unbelievable time. I'll try to summarize as best I can, but I met so many spectacular people that I'd feel bad if I left anyone out. I'm gonna LJ cut this just so people can skip the awesomeness that was D*C if they so choose.

First, the shout-outs!
(listed in no particular order)

Kevin: Holy shit was it great getting to chill with you. I know we only really got to hang out a lot on Thursday, but that was an awesome night. Especially bullshitting about Star Trek in an empty panel room. That was a great start to the weekend. You better not be a stranger man.
Matt: Dude, I'm glad I got to meet you - you're a great guy. The day they release the Ghostbusters HorrorClix is the day I play HorrorClix. >D
Jessica: Sorry I didn't remember you from last year outside of, "She looks familiar...." It was great getting to meet you and to room with you.
Kim: What can I say? You're an awesome lady and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself despite the sporadic drama. It was a great time getting to hang out with you and I look forward to doing it again.
Troy: Some of the things you said this weekend had me rolling. It was awesome! I'm glad I got to meet you and hang with you in the room and at the con. You're a great guy and I look forward to some hang time in the not-too-distant future. :D
Keenan: ANGRY FACE! Holy shit, we had some great goddamn times at this con. I'm glad we got to chill in the same room on Monday night because that shit was amazing.
Steph: MAGENTA! You are too nice and too fantastic for words. Much love and much hugs from north of the Mason-Dixon - I hope I get to hang with you sooner rather than later 'cause I loves me some Steph. XD
Heather: My new therapist! Huge hugs from a guy who's about an hour away from you. *L* We're GOING to hang out, and it's NOT going to be at a con. This much I promise you. I send you love via the intarweb. :D
Dustin: Dude, I just can't seem to get away from you even if I leave the state! *rotfl* It was sweet getting to see you down at D*C enjoying yourself, and even funnier that I ran into you drunk. Glad to see you were enjoying yourself bro.
Lee: Hahaha, you can't stop talking in a Swedish accent now. Brilliant! You're fucking awesome to hang out with, and if I'm chilling with the rest of the FL crew, you better be there or else! Plus, nobody else can master the art of "GRAY!" like you can.
Alex: So there's someone out there who's a huge-ass Batman Beyond freak like me? FUCKING SWEET! It was great chilling with you, even if you're the only person in the world who smokes. Haha. If I'm hanging out with the rest of the FL crew, you GOTTA be there. It wouldn't be the same otherwise.
Barb: It was awesome getting to meet you for the first time, and though it's unlikely you'll ever read this, you get a shout out for being awesome to be around, and I definitely look forward to the next time I see you. Oh yeah, you also get props for being funny and cute. ^.~
Julia: I'm glad I met you at D*C, and you are just too great. XD Getting to hang out with you, Barb, and everyone else was awesome. Just sucks you live in Chicago, otherwise I'd say we should hang out. >D
Yaya: What can I say about you? You're just completely awesome through and through. You were such a huge part of my enjoyment of this con that I can't even begin to tell you. Thanks for being who you are, and one of these days I'm gonna have to just go over and hang out with you guys in Vegas. Also, on Sunday night I went to the BATHROOM. I came back out and you were gone. Hoe. >D
Brian: I'm glad I finally got to meet the elusive Brian I've heard about! Getting to hang out with you, take pictures, and wear your costume was a one-of-a-kind experience. You're a great guy, and getting to talk to you over dinner (breakfast?) was a great time. I'll look forward to seeing you again! :D
Lionel: Getting to hang out and actually talk with you at a convention!? Unheard of! But seriously, it was such a great time to sit and talk with you in the midst of the convention and just kinda unwind for a minute. We'll have to catch up again some other time. Maybe AUSA? :D
Billy: You wore a kilt of your family's pattern to the City Diner, and I had an actually down-to-earth normal conversation with you at Dragon*Con which amazed the shit out of me. You're definitely a great guy, and I look forward to next year!
Al: Always about, always busy with pictures. I didn't really get a minute with you, but it's always good to run into you!
Derrick: Lt. Col. Guile! GRAH! Happy birthday, as belated as it may be! So much fun hanging out in the room talking with you about random shit, and we should get a group together - it's been a while since I've been part of a group, and that X-Men group reminded me of how freakin' fun it is. :D
Jason: Dude, I got to hang out with you for like... 45 minutes. But I'm glad I did! Watching the musical with you was a good time. Sucks you weren't around otherwise, though. XD
Holly: Goddamn can you take some serious punishment woman! Monday night was a helluvalotta fun - 'cept that crippling back injury Chris gave you, but that's cool. I had a great time fighting with you, beating you to the floor, and getting KICKED IN THE MOUTH by you. XD No woman has hurt me that much in a long while (and left me enjoying it). 'Till next D*C!
Chris: My god! Your chin! It's everywhere! Dude, it was great getting to chill with you post-con, and you are definitely the best Spiderman out there. We'll chill again next D*C!
Hannah: Out of everyone I've met at the con, you through me for the biggest loop. But I love it! Hehehe. You live right around the corner, you roleplay, and you bake. We're DEFINITELY hanging out.
Lauren: How great it was to be able to sit down and talk with you on Monday. If only I'd had some zombie makeup, khaki shorts and shirt combo, and a stingray barb I could've amazed you with my acting ability at the aquarium downtown. But alas, we could only talk about being tasteless. >D
Andrea: One of the three Rogues I was hanging around! It was great getting to talk with you, and I'd like to add that you looked nice in your costume.
Katie: Hope your Motoki costume jacket works out. I want to see your Tachikoma in action! :D
Brendan: So you moved back to Alabama and I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT!??! YARGH! Seriously though, it's always a pleasure getting to see you, and make sure you e-mail me about the karaoke!
Jenny: Sorry to see you were sick! Shit, I saw you like... twice this weekend, and I never get to see you. But at least you had an awesome time. I called you on Monday night to see if you wanted to hang out, but alas - no answer! As long as you made out alright, that's the best part. I guess I'll see you when I see you. XD
Keith: Hands down the best Indiana Jones out there. I always love getting to see you and Tracy at Dragon*Con - you always seem to have the best stories and know what's going on. Until next year!
Tracy: The other half of the equation - I didn't get to talk to you much, but you're beautiful as always.
Tigger: Well, you're absolutely insane and I saw your balls more than I thought I ever would. *LOL* You won't read this, but you're hilarious and have spectular decorating tastes.
Hawk: You fucking PIMP. Glad I got to see you man! Glad to see you're doing alright, and we can't be strangers.
Danny Huong: Nice shower dawg. >D I haven't seen you in forever until this week and I'm glad I got to stop for at least a minute to say, "Wassup!"
Jasmine: HOT! That's all I have to say.
Cheryl/X-Box Lady: I saw you at the Deathklok panel, and I saw you in the halls when you had your little cousin in tow. You're incredibly cute, and... yeah, you went hardcore metal with us. ROCK!
Everyone else: If I missed you, I'm a jackass. Comment so I can give you a shoutout! Each and every person I met at Dragon*Con, in case you can't tell, is beyond compare. You guys are fantastic, and I miss you already.

On to the recap:

Thursday night was crazy. I can't believe how many people were in the lobby in costume the night before the con. Me and Kevin took over a panel room and proceeded to rant and rave about everything from life and women to Star Trek and Star Wars. Go us nerds! *rock*

Friday was more insanity. Hanging out with people, working on part of my Batman Beyond costume, racing around meeting too many people to count, and dancing until the wee hours of the morning with multitudes of extraordinarily beautiful women. Went to a room party at Tiggers, saw a whole lot of stuff I didn't think I'd see at D*C, and sat outside a room while someone inside got teabagged. That shit was ridiculous!

Saturday dressed up in spandex, ran around like an idiot humping metal railings with my cup on offending the shit out of people, did our Adult Swim complete with swimmies, goggles, and male thong underwear. Once again socialized with so many people, ran into Derrick and found out he was doing well which is always good. Went to the Deathklok panel, got the party muthafuckin' STARTED, watched everyone at the panel completely destroy the room, had them put it back together, then left before the cops showed up. Danced until 5:00 AM with the same extraordinarily beautiful women, opted to skip out on going to the Battlestar: Galactica party with the cast and crew and went to eat at the City Diner with friends, which is a decision I don't regret. ^_^

Sunday, dressed up in Brian's Wolverine costume, got half of my hair to stay up in a perfect Wolverine wing, had a great time looking angry at the camera, ran around with *gasp* METAL CLAWS */gasp* and generally had a great time. Many more beautiful women were met, had a glorious and luckily long talk with Lionel for once (much love to you man!), wowwed people with what my age is, and partied hard with folks. The only bad part of the night was not getting to say goodbye to Brian and Yaya, since apparently nobody heard me when I said I had to go to the bathroom to wash brass polish off of my hands (it was disgusting). XD But at least you guys got my message.

Monday, packed up and checked my bags, went around eating with friends, hanging out, saying goodbyes to the awesome people I met, and watched the con die. But where Dragon*Con ended, fuckin' PILLOW CON began! On Monday night, I roomed with Keenan, Steph, Alex, and Lee (with special guest stars Holly and Chris!). We took over the pool in the Marriot, then proceeded to have a GIGANTIC pillow fight that completely destroyed the room. Mattresses were on the floor, the TV almost got broken, Keenan almost flew out the 36th floor window, and it was hilarious. I got stabbed in the ribs, kicked in my mouth, and beaten to the floor with a pillow - BY A WOMAN. Fucking awesome.
We took a break, went out to the diner, paid a homeless guy to leave us alone (he gave us a hug! Hah!), ate and drank, went back up to the hotel, and chilled.... For about half an hour. Then we started ANOTHER fight. Pure brilliance! People were getting tossed, beaten, suplexed, power bombed, trapped under mountains of comforter and pillow, and finally back-broken against the wall. That kinda killed the fun when Holly couldn't stand up, but what're you gonna do? I really wished I could've seen those bruises the night after, but that's just my own morbid curiosity I suppose. :D

Tuesday, everyone packed up and left, I ate some amazing udon, went to the airport, found out my flight was delayed TWO FUCKING HOURS. Got sick, fell asleep on the way to the airport, at the airport, on the airplane, then finally at Paul's house. Apparently when I got back to Philly at TEN AT NIGHT (flight should've ARRIVED in Philly at 6:30) Paul remarked that I looked like I was dying. I slept, for like 20 hours, skipped out on work due to the sickness, and now I feel remarkably better.

There's no better way I can think of to spend a week than how I just did. Yeah, there was some drama here and there, but it didn't cloud the weekend at all. Dragon*Con is officially THE con from now on, hands down. I really needed this weekend, and I needed it to be awesome, and it became something that was so much more than I could have ever asked for. To that regard, I thank everyone who made it a good time, and I want to say that the people who didn't come were missed.

Oh yeah, thought I forgot about YOU people? No way. >D Dave, Krys, Deej, Anna, Paul, Marty, Jez, Tom, and anyone else who didn't make it to D*C - I'm glad to hear the party rocked, and if it was even half as amazing as D*C was for me, you guys must've had an amazing time.

That's all folks! Good night!
