a cold, a ring, a square

I seem to have a cold. The Smallest had something earlier this week, and it was very cold-like, but he's had the same sort of symptoms from teething (runny nose and fever). And he IS teething (damned molars).

But now he's coughing, and my nose is both stuffed and runny. I swallowed so much phlegm last night that I was surprised I didn't wake up with an upset stomach. It was pretty gross. So of course I have to write about it here. Happy Thursday!

In SCIENCE! news, I learned yesterday that a new, massive ghost ring has been discovered around Saturn. Check this link out for a sweet photo. They didn't see it before because it can really only be detected by thermal radiation, and most telescopes don't have that capacity. But the Spitzer Space Telescope has that capability, so now we can see this massive new ring around Saturn. Yay Science!

In craft news, I came across another practical use for Granny Squares (crocheted squares used to make a blanket). People in the Republic of Georgia make them into slippers!!! This makes me so happy because now slipper makeage is within my grasp! I know how to crochet! I know how to sew squares together! I can make this happen! Check out the cool granny-square slippers.
