victoria day weekend

Today:

had dizziness upon waking that lasted through most of the day. no clue why.

went to Harbourfront for circus fun and got too much sun. I think I'll be thankful for the aloe plant we have. just need to figure out how to keep it alive/revive it. It's going brown on all the tips :( maybe need to repot it?

started the excursion in a foul mood (didn't know why I was dizzy and there were other issues I can't now recall). got down to the streetcar at Union station that goes to Harbourfront and saw a mama I knew, so we hung out for awhile. She's so crafty! She made her infant son a sun hat with chin strap and had crocheted him booties! I am envious. We talked strollers for a bit and then wandered in different directions.

found dyslexia and crucible while watching really awesome circus performers, and then sarinda and drui_en. It was lovely. There were circus families performing!!! optimystik and I are green with envy.

Spent the rest of the afternoon with S and D, walking and talking and eating. Went up to World's Biggest Bookstore and had a grand time looking at the gardening books. We got a how-to book on reviving lost skills. I look forward to perusing it.

After the bookstore, S and D went home and we headed towards Kensington, where we ran into northbard, who told us about the amazingness that is Buddha (a vegan-friendly restaurant). We headed that direction but ended up at Hibiscus, where I got exactly what I was looking for: a bowl full of yummy vegetables and grains and legumes. I have a vegan gluten-free brownie waiting for me. After food, we went to Bellevue park, where the Smallest got to play a bit. It got COLD! Convinced the Smallest to go for a walk, so we headed up to College to wait for the streetcar. We walked from Harbourfront to College and Borden. I'm a little tired...

Oh, and we discovered yesterday that the Smallest didn't have the flu. He was feverish from teething :( It seems that his last canine AND his 2-year molars are trying to come through all at the same time. The canine will poke through in a couple of weeks, but the molars will take months to work through. This the beginning of the end. Once the two-year molars are in, we are done done done with teething. Woohoo! Until then, I foresee lots of horrible, fevered teething in the near future. I wish he'd take the teething tablets when he needs them the most. Oh, so frustrating to have relief available but no desire to use it. argh!

Yesterday, N and I worked in the garden, prepping another bed. We'll be done in time to plant seeds this weekend, so I can try my new moon vs last quarter moon planting experiment. We planted several seeds in pots Saturday night, so they'll have a head start. But I've read that planting seeds during the new moon helps give them an extra boost. So I'll have to see whether there is a difference in productivity between the two (taking a week's head start into account, of course).

Looking forward to the chance of having a *good* night's sleep for once. This weekend was not nearly as restful as we had hoped.

fire child, circus, spending time with friends, the stuff of life
