So I got a ring from a seller on Etsy and it arrived a couple of days ago. There are problems that I need a reality check on before I send her an email.
Firstly, I screwed up on the size I need, so I didn't order the right size. Secondly, it's a half size 3/4 of a size* bigger than what I ordered, so she screwed up on the size, too.
Thirdly, it's advertised as being a 1/4" band, but what I got in the mail was 3/8", which is half again wider than advertised. As such, the design, which would have looked fine on a 1/4" band now looks kinda weak and fragile on this wider band, which makes me unhappy.
And fourthly, I was expecting more of a relief with the design than what I got, but perhaps that can be remedied with more antiquing or something.
What I ordered:
What I got:
Does this even look like the same ring? It looks like it's a tired impersonation, and I'm not thrilled.
I know I have to contact her about this, but I'm afraid to because there was already a mix-up with payment (I tried to put N's credit card on my paypal account and couldn't do that because it wouldn't let me change the full name on the card, so we had to pay her through N's paypal, except that he reordered the ring instead of just paying her through paypal, so she had to cancel a transaction, which probably isn't a big deal), so there were problems from the get-go with this ring.
So with all my nitpicking and all the mix-ups, I feel like I'm going to end up being One of Those People. Ugh.
Am I justified in my irritation? I need a reality check.
N is on his way to another jeweler to get a second opinion with the ring sizing, in case the first wand that was used was off or something. I want to be sure to get the details right this time before contacting her.
Update: N just got back from the jewelers. He first went to Sears yesterday and it was sized at 7.5 (I ordered a 7). Today, he went to a neighbourhood jeweler, where it was sized at 7 3/4. WOW. WTH?
