super fantastic birthday!
Yesterday was full of awesome! I wasn't sure it was going to turn out at all, and here it turns out to be one of the best birthdays ever!
Very busy morning: had to get out to Jane and Annette (um, these are streets, not women) to see a stroller I'm lusting after that a lady is selling on craigslist. I really like the stroller and want it lots. She has to take it in to get the shade fixed because the shade keeps popping out on one side.
She's got a 3-year-old who's just starting junior kindergarten and 8-month-old twins whom she's STILL nursing! AP FTW! I told her how impressed I was and how awesome it was that she was nursing them. So fantastic.
Then it was off to Alice's for some family mayhem. Made it to High Park for the playground (not the castle one). We had a good visit. Much less stressful than I was anticipating. And I got to try out her Bugaboo stroller! (These suckers run about $1000 each). OMG, it was fantastic! I understand what all the fuss is about.
Mom called while I was there and we had a short talk. Yay! My mom called me on my birthday!
Left Alice's sooner than I would have normally. I had to get to Sarah's because she was making me a birthday lunch! mmmmmm fooooooood!!!
Aidan fell asleep on the way to Sarah's. He was getting fussy in the stroller, so I switched him to the carrier and he was passed out in about 2 minutes. So sweet. It'd been awhile since he'd fallen asleep in the carrier. It felt good to have him so close and so peaceful.
Sarah is always such good company. Lovely lunch, fabulous cookies, yummy cake (she made me a wheat-free, dairy-free cake!), great conversation, and good times with our babies. At this point, I was already swooning from how good the day had been.
Came home around 6 and called my mom again for a longer conversation. (omg, my mom and I are having a normal relationship! How cool is THAT?!) Got off the phone because I had to start getting Aidan ready to leave. We were meeting kuaimao at Mezzettas for my birthday dinner that she was treating us to.
optimystik came home and brought the mail: the diaper I had ordered from alexisyael had arrived! whee! And I noticed that N had gifties for me: a glass juice pitcher so our OJ won't ferment in two days' time like it was doing with our plastic pitcher, and a super duper fantastico mandoline for veggie slicing ease. Oh so practical and marvelous. Yay!
And then my SISTER called! So I had to talk to her because she never calls me. Very special treat. We had an awesome but very short conversation regarding her next tattoo (dad-related, we decided clipper ship on left side of torso, scheduled for 9/23 -- the day he died 12 yrs ago <-- wow, it's been 12 years. weird.).
After my conversation with sis, we headed over to Mezzettas for dinner. Thought we were meeting J there, but realised that meeting details hadn't been solidified when J called from our lobby wondering where we were! Ooops! It all worked out and we had an amazing dinner and dessert. So effing good! The green beans... Ooooooh, the green beans. So yum.
Came back home for awesome conversation until too late, but it was worth it, since J is so much fun to talk to. I'm learning more about Judaism! Yay! Then J went home and I had more awesome conversation with N until way way way too late.
Best birthday in recent memory... Thank you, everyone, for your birthday wishes and emails and ecards and a special thanks to those who made my day supremely special by spending time with me and feeding me. Kettu feeding is especially important. oooh, that reminds me. I have COOKIES TO EAT! Yum!
